Kansas mother goes missing while seeking mental health treatment

Police in Kansas are searching for a mother of three who went missing as she traveled to Alabama in search of mental health treatment. Marilane Carter, 36, was last seen leaving her Overland Park home late Saturday. She was driving in a gray 2011 GMC Acadia SUV en route to visit family in Birmingham, Alabama, police said in a statement issued Wednesday.

  9. I sincerely hope she is all right, but so many times these things have a bad ending. I wondered why she left on her own when it seems evident her family (adults anyway) knew she was possibly struggling with mental health issues. I realize we never know what is going on in someone's life, but this situation seems odd. Driving a considerable distance on her own in an apparent mental health crisis? Yeah, very odd.
