Kansas City Faith Blogger Considers Cult Of Conspiracy Theorists

Maybe he might be taking memes and mainstream news too seriously . . . As a silly Internets trend earns election cycle coverage in order to entertain a great many voters who have already made up their mind.

Congregations for conspiracy theorists?

This past May, here on the blog, I mentioned a valuable book, The Death of Expertise. Its author worries -- with good reason -- that Americans are devaluing what real experts are trying to teach us. Often that's in favor...

  1. Very interesting post. I read today in the Wall Street Journal that Jerry Falwell, Jr. will walk away from Liberty U. with a $10 million settlement. Ah, yes. The Lord takes care of his own... .

  2. The only reason there is a Q-Anon movement is that the MSM has stopped reporting news and instead seeks to perpetuate their favored narrative. It forces people to try to fill in the blanks on their own and you get online groups like Q-Anon to help with need.

  6. 11:51 has a good point. When the MSM and Democrats are peddling conspiracy theories that Trump and the post master general are conspiring to defund the post office to interfere with the election we've hit maximum crazy. This isn't just some far left outlet followed by the crazy few - it's everywhere - every day - 24/7 - on social media, on TV, on the radio, at home among families and friends. When MSM throws out batshit crazy conspiracy theories - what do we believe? It's become all consuming and everyone is the expert and claims "the truth matters". Blah.

Instead of politicizing religion as Bill is doing - take a different approach. Remember the advise your grandparents gave..."don't talk about religion or politics". We've taken that wisdom and flipped it on it's head. See where it's got us? Thanks Bill.

  7. Bill is attacking Christian outright now, for stuff they don't even advocate.

    No doube about it.

    He is an atheist.

  8. The MAGA Cult has devolved into a false religion with a false prophet, replacing Christian doctrine.

The bible warns what happens next.

You will know them by the mark on their foreheads. At least the MAGA folks volunteer to wear the red caps so we can easily identify them.

  9. BILL TAMMEUS IS AN EXTREMELY JUDGMENTAL SELF-RIGHTEOUS PERSON

"Americans are devaluing what real experts are trying to teach us. Often that's in favor of weird conspiracy theories that should look like fool's gold from a mile away but often, to some gullible people, don't."
In other words, whatever Tammeus believes must be correct, and any other interpretation or belief system is inherently wrong and foolish.

Is Tammeus familiar with the Bible? Apparently not.

Luke 6:37 - Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:

Romans 2:1-11 - Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.
