Kansas City Black Lives Matter Murals Need Donations

Right now we notice a fundraising ask for a controversial effort. At the very least, we commend this group for not taking taxpayer funds . . .

ABOUT THE PROJECT - This three-pronged Black Lives Matter project begins with six namesake street murals in diverse neighborhoods across our city. Organizers will fundraise to produce the initial street murals and simultaneously finance a city-wide Black Lives Matter “vertical” murals fund to extend this value statement from streets to buildings. Finally, organizers will make publicly-available a comprehensive “blueprint” for interested individuals or organizations to independently apply this painted value statement to their own neighborhood streets throughout Kansas City.

How Can I Support? Robust fundraising efforts have commenced to finance the modest costs of six [Phase 1] street murals—each unique and commissioned by local Black artists. Fundraising is being led by Troost Market Collective, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit arts organization focused on amplifying artists of color. All remaining generated funds will be reserved for underwriting a series of permanent “vertical” Black Lives Matter murals on buildings throughout the city [Phase 2]. Design proposals will be solicited from local artists and juried by a committee established by the Urban League of Greater Kansas City, with selections announced at this year’s (virtual) Troostapalooza, organized by Troost Market Collective, in October. Vertical mural fundraising efforts will be supplemented with generous matching support, provided by the Urban League of Greater Kansas City.

  5. I could leave a shit on the street which they could sell as art. This would probably raise $15 to $20. Maybe a little more if the ass wipe paper was wrapped around the pile.

  6. They need $500 for paint and the artists commission is $11,500? What a joke.

What would be funny is the city has a street project for new asphalt about two weeks after this crap is painted, you know, like when they repave a city street and then they have some company tear up the entire street for a sewer or water line replacement project! Now that would be typical and completely normal for the city to do something so stupid.

  8. I thought they said they already had the private money to do this. But hey go ahead and give your money on top of the tax dollars used to keep the Blacks in the system.

  11. What the f##k? All the bitching and whining about BLM and now they want help to pay for murals.
Take some of the money they made off the stuff that they stole from the business on the plaza.
Don’t worry they will steal the paint if no one donates it.

  12. Maybe they can do some murals in protest of the black extremist Antoine Fielder, who shot and killed two white sheriff's deputies in Wyandotte County while being transferred to prison in 2018. When will the racism stop? Rest in Heaven, Deputies Theresa King and Patrick Rohrer.

  13. Let BLM pay for it. At the same time allow groups to raise money and paint street graffiti supporting the police, las and order. Such bull shit.

How long before a black is shot standing on one of these BLM racist waste of paint messages ? They cannot control themselves they prove that about ever three days by killing each other.

Also, Rasmussen poll shows Trump within a point of Biden. Expect polarizing news stories as Dems fight for relevance while BLM fatigue and riot fatigue swing the middle voters to the right.

They lied in order to promote their hateful agenda.

    No surprise here.
