HERE'S HOW NEW KCI WILL INEVITABLY CRASH AND BURN: ALLEGATIONS OF RACISM AND CYNICALLY LEVERAGING BLACK LIVES MATTER MOVEMENT HELPED FLIP AN 80 MILLION DOLLAR CONTRACT!!!

A classical term always comes to mind whenever we notice Kansas City power players tout their political conquests.

The reference . . .

A Pyrrhic victory is a victory that inflicts such a devastating cost on the victor that it is tantamount to defeat. Winning a Pyrrhic victory takes a heavy toll that negates any true sense of achievement or damages long-term progress.

Accordingly . . .

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WINNERS OF AN EPIC NEW AIRPORT CONTRACT WHO HAVE LIKELY DOOMED NEW KCI TO FATE FAR WORSE THAN THEY CAN IMAGINE!!!

We reported on this hot mess all the way along but the held off on the punchline to gain a bit of perspective.

Most local media politely ignored the ugly brawl because big money contract disputes don't have great visuals and make locals feel bad about their own lives of quite desperation.

Still, this was an important fight that has long lasting implications . . . Here are a few for starters:

- New KCI is a disaster in the making. It's not just delayed, it's totally compromised. Moreover, the massive airport FAIL has the potential to bankrupt Kansas City.

- BLM had nothing to do with this contract but a fight in their name using alleged racism as leverage puts a couple of members of council in debt to forces beyond their control. We don't mean to be cryptic but simply to recount a truism: Historically, council members playing fast & loose with MILLIONS of bucks have often met with distress after falling into a tailspin of their own making. 12th & Oak is an exceptionally tough place to keep things simple.

- A city official risked his career and freedom by going out on a limb to flip this deal, if a basement dwelling blogger can make the connection we're pretty sure more important people have done the math as well.

Finally, indulge us as we conclude with just a bit of cowtown philosophy . . .

One of the greatest reasons why politicos chase elected office so desperately is to do favors for their friends. Bid rigging has always been a way of life in Kansas City in much the same way that half of the lawyers in this cowtown under 40 regularly abuse some form of cocaine - All the rest are far more relaxed booze-hounds. And so, over the past few months we've seen that predictions about the future are futile but a glimpse at the sketchy foundation on which new KCI is built gives us a strong indication that the destiny of this facility is just as compromised as the shady deals which have marred its construction.

Developing . . .

    2. The old airport is starting to look pretty good right about now. At least a lot better than this nightmare built during a time when almost nobody is flying.

Not like the rest of the people here, I do hope the airport find success but at this rate it's going to be very hard to win trust and get other people on board.

  7. 6:41, most people left in KC are fools - most moved out. So they get what they deserve.

Biggest problem is the rest of us that got out will pay more for flights, that is if we ever travel again. We're getting screwed again, first E-Tax, now this.

  9. Usually how the Minority Construction contracts work is that black firms get paid big bucks NOT to show up at the job site.

    1. One they don't want to work and
    2. They screw everything up.

It's basically a bribe that taxpayers and contractors have to pay to get public projects completed.

  10. So any guesses on how much money exchanged hands under the table on this latest scam?

  11. No, because nobody cares retard. This airport is in KC and you are not. Go away!

  12. Why is anyone surprised at the continued debacle known as the "new" KCI? Everyone who has been paying attention since our last mayor and his buddies shoved it down our throats knew how this would turn out.

  13. We have seen this shit storm coming for years. Anyone, and I mean ANYONE, with an ounce of integrity knew this grift was headed this way just as soon as the minority contractors started whining. I would have used "boondoggle" rather than "Pyrrhic victory" given the Lexile Measure of those making comments, but nice job not dumbing it down for the masses.

  22. NEVER UNDERESTIMATE SYLVESTER JAMES AND TROY SCHULTE'S ABILITY TO F**K THINGS UP IN KCMO!

What started as a pet project for Burns and McDonnell quickly morphed into the largest, most-expensive public infrastructure construction project in KC history.

Does everyone remember the rushed media announcement from the KCI parking lot where Sylvester explained that he was giving the new terminal project to Burns and McDonnell because they were the only one interested in the billion (+) dollar contract? It seems he had made a couple of vague public references to the possible project and Burns and McDonnell was the only one to make a proposal. No publication of bid requests, no nationwide search for best design, no evaluation of bid proposals, and absolutely no adherence to standard ethical operating procedures for municipal governments. Come on folks, this is KCMO, a corrupt Democrat-machine town, we'll just make up the rules as we go.

No public disclosure that Sylvester James' largest campaign contributor was Burns and McDonnell. No discussion about James' awarding Schulte pay increases and a contract extension at a time when all other City employees were under a freeze order. Further assembling his corrupt billion-dollar team, James elevated rookie Councilmember Jolie Justus to lead the Airport Committee and gave her assurances that he would support her future mayoral run if she was a team player on his payback to Burns and McDonnell.

Fast-forward to a small group of KCMO residents realizing what was happening, and began a push to publicize the corruption. The KC Star, beholden to local politicos, and local TV news, afraid to offend potential advertisers, were generally asleep at the wheel. Even multiple members of the KCMO Council were caught completely by surprise, unaware that a billion(+) dollar contract was about to be awarded without their knowledge. One of those clueless fools now serves as Mayor, and prioritizes his time for BLM protest marches, national media appearances, and attempting to destroy KC's economy with draconian illogical mandates for a bad case of the seasonal influenza.

KCMO is on the precipice of bankruptcy, and their only plan is to beg for a federal bailout.

You can tell his age by his lack of writing skills and his frequent temper tantrums. I'm guessing he dropped out of elementary school, and his mother doesn't know what to do with him. For his welfare, we’ve started a GoFundMe page titled “Save the 10-Year-Old Dumbass."

The folks on this blog, anti or pro on issues, have one thing going for them.
They are somewhat informed, and under all the blathering, most care enough about this city to argue and insult one another here.

It's the great unwashed, ignorant majority who make no effort to know what's going on around them, and therefore allow E-taxes, airports, and toy trains to be voted in, due to their lack of interest, that deserve most of the blame.

Then, when it's too late to repair the results of their ennui, like now, they find themselves fucked. Very few of my neighbors pay ANY ATTENTION until they get the bill for their passivity.

  35. do not know how anyone looks at that image and the first thing they do not think of is that it looks like a pain in the ass to maneuver the planes around the building and around other planes is amazing.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Looks like the KCI design has less than .2 miles between which includes docking areas. Any similar existing airports with that small of distance? Probably not. I am sure it will be fine.

    ReplyDelete
  37. ^^^And yet you have zero idea what you're talking about, zero specs of the airport, and are talking out of your ass again. Weird.

    ReplyDelete
  38. less than .2 miles between the roadside terminal and runway terminal, including docking areas. Anyone know the exact distance ? Sure it will be fine.

    ReplyDelete
  39. The new airport was always a boondoggle and a way to enrich certain constituencies. KC never needed a new airport. The one we had was more than adequate for the traffic and was incredibly convenient to use for the flying public. Just another corrupt and bad decision from city government that the whole region is going to have to suffer for. Will it ever end?

    ReplyDelete
  40. ^^No. Spare yourself more torture drama queen and kill yourself. God, you people are so dramatic. Stupid and pathetic too.

    ReplyDelete
  41. 3:04 maybe they should have released some specs, instead of making folks approximate the distance, which will also have to be walked, with released plans overlaid on existing site and using google earth distance ruler. And since a bunch of lawyers had less than zero idea what they were doing and talking out their ass like you always do.
Istanbul airport has similar configuration in parts, it is .25 and .3 miles between. I am sure it will be fine even though upon quick google search cannot locate another airport with an H shaped design. Post the name of one if you find it.

    ReplyDelete
  42. when you find it post the plane maneuvering distance between the terminals too. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  43. It is a foregone conclusion that you would never let the like of Clever, James, Reed or Ellington manage your retirement funds.

    ReplyDelete
  44. according to released KCI planes though, the distance between the legs of the H is less than the width of an existing terminal which is 300 meters or .19 miles according to google earth. Unless that is way inaccurate or the plans were drawn inaccurately. What is the optimal distance between, i can not say.

    ReplyDelete
  45. ^^then why are stupid fucking idiots even discussing it? Not one of you moribund losers is qualified to speak to anything! The things you geezers occupy yourselves with while waiting to die is beyond me!

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  71. The public has not idea how really corrupt the system is. Everyone is on the take. every organization hosting a press conference, has taken money. Or are doing it because they are paid to. The only honest players in this have been the contractors originally awarded the job and now say they will never work in the KC again. A tip: here's how you get work in KC: pay the right political organizations. Oh, and hire Bridgette Williams, because she doesn't care about women or minorities, she only cares about the white men that are paying her commission on the jobs she wins for her. and she wins by paying Gwen Grant and paying the Urban League and supporting council campaigns so then she has them on her side when she needs the votes. She organizes campaigns to crush those in favor of the people paying her to do. Sexist old school white males who she has no idea she's just a prostitute for them. Or maybe she does know. But a black woman, who does not support blacks, minorities, or women, what a sham.

    ReplyDelete
  72. The airport should have its funding pulled if its not going to hold its promise of being a transnational project for women and minorities. So far, they've failed, just ask the Black Chamber who for months has been trying to get the public's attention on how low they are on not meeting their MWBE goals. The losers: KC. Minorities. Women.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Bridgette Williams of the Heavy Contractor's Association is a puppet and prostitute for white men that don't have the balls to speak up for themselves - and who made her that way - Sly James and now Quinton Lucas - who use her to speak for 'black' when she has NEVER supported a black or a woman. Only the white men on her board that pay commissions to win jobs for them

    ReplyDelete
  74. this may be a dumb question but isn't this like the 5th contract that this company from outside of KC Decker or Ideker has lost and then they get it put out for rebid and mysteriously then come back and win? who are they paying? the airport director? the unions? How does this keep happening? who is going to investigate Ideker and its owner Paul Ideker that spoke at city council saying the only reason his number was higher in the first place is because he has to work with 'those minorities'
