Lenexa homeowners push back on plans to build apartments, more in their backyards

LENEXA, Kan. - The city of Lenexa is considering rezoning land near Kansas 7 to build new townhomes, apartments, an assisted living community and maybe even a couple of hotels. The problem is, nearby homeowners don't want that development in their backyards.

  1. Karen's Jayhawk wanna be son is going to knock up a section eight hotty and make a conservative out of her too late. Section eight is like planting weeds intentionally in nice gardens.

  2. What makes a homeowner a bad person because they want to protect their largest asset (in most cases)? Not to mention, JoCo is FULL of new, high-end apartments right now that are sitting vacant.

  3. The homeowners could always offer to buy the land for what the developer paid plus his anticipated profit. It they're not willing to do that, they need to accept that they have no right to control property they don't own and get on with their lives. To expect government agencies to interfere smacks of, dare I say it? Marxism.

  4. @ 11:04 - Under the law adjacent owners have the right ot 1) be advised if there is a zoning change of adjacent property. 2) Have the right to address the elected officials of Lenexa with their opinion on the project and maybe facilitate a change. 3) In Lenexa however you are generally screwed because the project is usually already tax incentivized and signed sealed and delivered by the time you find out.
That is just how the city of Lenexa works.

  5. Or they could just put up a big sign: "NO NIGGERS ALLOWED"

That should get the message across.

  6. So the lefty joco owners scream and holler about what everybody else should do but when they try to put them in their backyards it’s a big fat hell no. Typical dimwit philosophy right there. It’s truly amazing what they demand other people do but they won’t do it themselves.
