Coronavirus Ruins Kansas City 816 Day

A bit of background on this non-event that was created for the sake of local media hype . . .

"816 Day is the annual, city-approved celebration of Kansas City culture featuring live entertainment, branded events, and one-day deals. On 816 Day, community connectedness is strengthened by local business and resident pride. There's something for everyone on 816 Day."

Today there aren't many celebrations and limited discounts to drum up business as partisan politics and protests dominate the social scene.

To be fair, here's MSM "news" playing salesman:

"816 Day" to celebrate all things Kansas City

Indeed. Buy local, and pay too high sales tax. Might be okay if services to residential areas, good street, reasonable water rates, etc. were provided. Maybe BLM will kick in some bucks to help this broke ass shitty out.

Now they're laying off city employees, yet somehow painting that bullshit on the streets. Taxes are wasted. Airport, toy train, empty new hotel, Power & Light subsidy, 18th & Vine, defunding cops, water rates, lousy schools, ad infinitum.

We all know how everyday (white) folks are fucked by this administration.

There's not much average folks can do about it. BUT YOU CAN BUY OUTSIDE THE CITY LIMITS. Too bad the local businesses are penalized, but as above post, Amazon or Gladstone, NKC, KS, Independence, and on and on to at least deny these 12th and Oak thieves our sales taxes. Stupid voters will renew the fucking E-tax when asked.

  3. Not my problem. Not going to worry about it. Rag on the busybodies and power-tripping politicians. I order everything by pointing and clicking or traling elsewhere to get what I want until the insanity, paranoia and busybody crap is over. No assholes to deal with that way.

  4. I Believe In by local, keep your cash in the city and county that you live in. Mine is Cass County, we don't have a mask gets you like Jackson County we're wide open for service no mask required. We also have the second lowest rate of covet infection in the state with our County

  5. Five months is way more than enough time to leave this mess on display. They’re usually cleaned up just a few days after the death. I’m sure cut flowers, candles and stuffed animals and balloons look really nice after five months of sun, rain, wind, etc.

  7. Congratulations to the excellent marketing and advertising departments of Kansas City. I have lived her for 23 years and this is the first time I have heard of 816 Day. Perhaps Kansas City should have street paintings of 816 Day rather than Black Lives Matter. Just a thought.
