Conservative Missouri Congressional Contender Talks Kansas City Schools

The campaign trail brings this right-wing politico to the urban core and one of our many iconic empty buildings . . . Here's his take . . .

KC Schools: Hell in a Cell

Money line . . .

"On a recent visit to the abandoned and shuttered Westport High School, I found a scene of broken Americana that would make Norman Rockwell cry in shame.

"Westport High School, once a gem of Kansas City educational system, is now an overgrown jungle of disrepair; heroin needles, empty vodka bottles and homelessness. Kansas City, how much worse do you want it to get?"

  2. What specifically does this shithook intend to do about it?

  3. 6:49AM... from the PR linked: "More charter schools, end the war on drugs, help the homeless vs. the tyranny of The Cleaver Family."

The Cleaver family just can't leave us alone, can they? Between Kansas City's favorite car wash proprietor and his prior Chief Executive of KCSD wife, the Cleavers truly have forsaken the kids of KC. On a recent visit to the abandoned and shuttered Westport High School, I found a scene of broken Americana that would make Norman Rockwell cry in shame.

Westport High School, once a gem of Kansas City educational system, is now an overgrown jungle of disrepair; heroin needles, empty vodka bottles and homelessness.

Kansas City, how much worse do you want it to get? You have a choice this November 3: More charter schools, end the war on drugs, help the homeless vs. the tyranny of The Cleaver Family.

This has been going on for 15 years; why would we send Cleaver back to D.C. for a 16th?

“God Bless the dedicated teachers in the KC school district! They are polishing the brass on the Titanic."

I am Ryan Derks, I am asking you to give me a chance.

  4. Maybe this guy should dip his toes politically in the local waters first and see what he can get accomplished there?

  5. He is cute.
I will ride him like a merry-go-round in 5th gear.

  6. If he is NOT a democrat he has my vote, regardless of what office! It is time to kick out the statue quo in this city!

  8. i remember doing some construction work on that school late 80's - early 90's. It was simply like polishing a turd back then. classes didn't seem to be at full capacity either.

building just outlived it's usefulness for students.

  9. Superficial dumb shit. The building is privately owned, awaiting development dollars.
And he proposes nothing to address drug use. Lightweight sensationalist. Go away!

  10. @8:26, okay I'll ask again...

"More Charter Schools" - helps the KCMOPSD how?

"End the war on Drugs"- say whaaaaat? You're pro-drug?

"Help the Homeless" - who, considering the Support Systems already in place, are homeless by choice, since the help available requires them to "follow some rules".
So you're going to turn them into rational people?

"End the tyranny of the Cleaver Family" - yes, we understand you want to go to Congress in the seat held by Cleaver for several years, we get that.

Do you have a conduit to pixie dust, or are you just campaigning by reciting cant that we've been hearing from candidates for decades with absolutely no results?

Oh, and as has been pointed out, Westport High School is NOT part of the KCMO School System, it's been closed and sold.

  11. Why do you fucking morons act like this guy is campaigning for mayor? He's running for Congress. Can he even have an impact on a fraction of the shit he's proposing or bitching about (cuz that's basically all he's doing) from DC?

  12. I like this guy, he gets my vote, it’s time someone kicked dementia race baiting the cleave down the road

    ReplyDelete
  13. Uhhh... Mr. Dierks, the KCMO School District closed Westport High School in June, 2010 and sold it to Sustainable Development Partners in 2014. So it's been in private hands for six years now.

I have a question - does this represent the level of study you intend to bring to the job of representing the People of Missouri if you should somehow get elected to Congress?

You might want to become familiar with something called the "internet", it took me about three minutes to discover the facts about Westport High I listed above.

  14. ^^^ Well, he announced his campaign bragging he will protect the constitutionally guaranteed rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness... so somewhere below a failing 3rd grader is about the level of study and understanding he brings.

I wonder if Derks ever found "Saleen" County on the map. He was also eager to represent them.
