TKC TIPSTERS TOLD YOU SO!!! FAILED MISSION GATEWAY STAYS LOSING!!!

It's not really "news" if everybody has been saying as much for the past 2 years . . . But we appreciate this quick read without so much verbiage that substitutes for real reporting . . .

KC Biz Journal: Mission Gateway developer says work could restart if financial markets return to normal

Money line . . .

"Matt Valenti of New York-based Cameron Group said construction of the multi-use project is paused because of disruption to the financial markets due to the Covid-19 pandemic. For now, plans are on hold, the construction site quiet and parties ranging from prospective tenants to contractors to Mission city officials trying to protect their positions."

NOT Developing . . .

  2. That area was a lake 80 years ago and continues to try and return to that state. Nothing will last built there.

  3. These “mixed use” developments are a dime a dozen in JoCo and most of them have significant vacancies. This particular one has been a boondoggle since day one. Pull the plug and turn it into a park.

  5. The project was doomed long before Covid. The developer is severely underfunded, and hasn't been able to put together a full lending committment since the recession of '06-'08 tightened underwriting requirements. Potential tenants see through the smoke and mirrors, and credit tenants (those whose executed leases are as good as cash and upon which credit will be extended) refuse to execute and put up a dime until stable financing is in place.

  6. Mission Impossible!

What a joke, the city of Mission has enabled this dysfunction for how many decades now?

  7. Glad you got on that story.

Mo Rage did it the day before.

  8. @ 10:19 is totally correct. This will never be completed and now it's an even worse eyesore. Covid 19 along with fraudulent developers killed it. Retail is not going to improve for many years. Bricks and Morter locations are closing and not reopening. As a Mission resident of 30 years it's extremely dismaying. It's not the Cities fault. I think we all regret not approving a new Walmart supercenter there. In retrospect it was a huge mistake. Perhaps walmart can pick it up as a severe discount in the future and build.
