TKC SUNDAY SPECIAL!!! KANSAS CITY COUNTRY CLUB PLAZA IS DEAD!!!
It's unclear if the shift to Internets retail, the coronavirus pandemic or violent social justice protest proved to be the main cause of County Club Plaza's demise but the historic entertainment district is now relic of the past and has been rendered lifeless according an increasing number of visitors.
Here's the postmortem perspective from Conservative talker Rob Carson . . .
"I went to the Plaza in KC yesterday to waste some time, and it was a waste of time. It was a ghost town. Everyone was wearing masks. You have to wear a mask to get into a restaurant, yet everyone inside took them off. There were no carriages, very few young people and no music. There was no life. People were standing outside of stores waiting for others to leave so they could get in. Off in the distance behind the fountain was a huge spray painted "Black Lives Matter" graffiti emblem and a large black fist. I won't be returning any time soon."
And whilst some activists might celebrate the destruction with little regard for Kansas City's history, neighborhoods and tourism industry jobs; the new Internets economy doesn't seem any more "equitable or inclusive" than old school practices.
Translation . . .
Retail is dead.
But the replacement also has its share of problems.
