TKC MUST READ!!! NORTHEAST NEWS AGAINST KANSAS CITY COP HATE!!!

At the conclusion of last week the Indian Mound Neighborhood board penned a letter distancing themselves from KCPD and canceling neighborhood watch cooperation.

Via social media, that effort was widely celebrated and earned hundreds of likes and shares from friends and supporters.

However, some of the denizens of our blog community and constant readers sent us this opposing viewpoint our way that we nearly overlooked.

Northeast News: And the cop hate continues

Money line . . .

"The single-spaced screed released by the Indian Mound Neighborhood Association Board of Directors last week claims to speak for “well over 10,000 residents” and being one of the “largest neighborhood associations in the city.”

"How many of those 10,000 residents did the four-person, Indian Mound Board check with before deciding by fiat to speak for them? Additionally, how many dues paying members did the board consult before sending out this hate laced letter? Was there any attempt to, in an open forum, discuss the bullet pointed demands with neighborhood residents and the police department?

"We can answer all three questions: None. None. Nope."

Read the editorial in its entirety because there's a lot of important info there about a neighborhood shooting and recent history.

Meanwhile, the culture war over tactics, funding and the future of policing continues to divide not only the nation but also local neighborhoods.

Comments

  1. They were elected to those positions, people who had a chance to vote already did so. The editorial might not understand the representative model of governance or the principals of a Republic. It's a common mistake to think that mob rule is Democracy. That has NEVER been the case.

    1. ^^^

      Maybe.

But cancelling a neighborhood watch isn't a good luck when crime is running rampant all over KC.

    2. Most of these neighborhood boards are just a place where people want to launch their run for council or the mayor's office.

    3. Apparently you don't live in Indian Mound. And the majoritarian principle is a terrible guarantor of individual rights.

  5. What kind of sick ass people would go after a person that has served his country and community for well over half his life, suffered consequences from his service only to be belittled by a sorry ass bunch of Karen’s? Stupid motherfuckers.

  7. Good hardworking citizens rarely desire to get involved in the petty politics of neighborhood associations. Those who do are like politicians - dishonest, power hungry small time losers.

  8. If the paid membership of Indian Mound Neighborhood Association is greater than 50, i would be surprised-pleasantly, but surprised. Thus 50 electing 4 purporting to represent 10,000... not good .

  9. Mayor Quentin Lucas has that 4 year old boy's blood on his hands.

Lucas gave the gangs the green light to murder and pillage Kansas City when he let the radical protesters and back-stabbed the KCPD.

Enjoy your five minutes of fame on CNN Lucas; you helped kill a four year old boy.

  10. Well good that's less work the police have to do. Let these people destroy each other.

  11. Did Lucas even mention the murder of the sleeping 4 year old during his CNBC interview?

Maybe if Lucas didn't back-stab KCPD; the police could arrest the bad guys and the little 4 year old would still be alive.

Didn't think so; all Lucas cares about is promoting Quentin Lucas.

Lucas doesn't care about anyone but his own career.

Why do the citizens vote for Marxist Mayors instead of for law and order and economic growth of their communities?

You HAVE to have law and order before anything else for capital investment, economic growth, and education to occur in these down-trodden neighborhoods.

  12. Of course the Northeast News is supportive of he police.
Looks at what regularly goes on in their community.
And if the other regular hard-working folks in east side neighborhoods could be polled, they'd say the same things.
An above comment about neighborhood association "leadership" is also right on the mark. Self-important people who are way more interested in themselves and their political opportunities to "move on up" than they are in the neighborhood.
A personality cult based on incompetence and self-dealing.
    Any adult supervision in KCMO?
    Any at all?

  13. There are no real elections in the Indian Mound Neighborhood Association. Every July, folks say "Not it!" and then someone gets stuck doing the job. I was on the board from 2011-2019. It's irresponsible that this letter was written because no one in the neighborhood was consulted. It's worse that this letter claims to represent 10k people; it represents the four board members and that's it. The crime watch network is continuing despite this letter.

  14. Since when was a HOA a political platform? You're there to make sure the trash is picked up, lawns are mowed, homes are not blighted, and people pay their dues. If these board members want a political platform, run for office where people are actually asking you to represent their views on policing.

This is more of a case of a couple board members high-jacking the HOA for their political message. They don't "represent" their residents any more than AT&T (my cell provider) does. AT&T doesn't go around saying they "represent" their millions of subscribers. That's ridiculous.

  15. "Hundreds of likes on social media from friends and supporters"

21 likes on Facebook. 3 likes on Twitter. Maybe a total of 2 likes from anyone who has ever been to a single Indian Mound Neighborhood Association meeting.

The letter has actually resulted in the IMNA board getting ratioed, losing membership and participation, having oversite of the crime watch network stripped from them, and other pushback from neighbors who are no longer willing to share their time, work, or money with the now irrelevant neighborhood association. Manny Abarca has spent the past four years burning bridges with just about everyone and making everything about himself. It's pretty embarrassing when Democrats will side with Trump supporters before they would consider partnering with Manny Abarca, but he has shown time and again that he does not have the capability to build relationships or lead effectively. He literally loses every single issue he campaigns for unless he is running unopposed.

  18. And a neighborhood association is not a government body. They are not elected. They are a voluntary association. They just made themselves liable to any victim of crime who can claim that lack of police protection contributed to their fate. Communist idiots like Bryan Stadler should be sent to Cuba to think about their errors.
