Jackson County Executive issues statement commending removal of Andrew Jackson statues in Jackson, Mississippi

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Jackson County Executive Frank White, Jr. has issued the following statement after elected leaders in the City of Jackson, Mississippi voted to remove its statue of Andrew Jackson:

“As a young child, my family moved from Mississippi to Kansas City. Every summer, my parents would send me back to spend time with my grandparents in Mississippi and help them pick the cotton they grew. While these summers were some of the happiest of my life, I also have memories from those summers that give me chills to this day.

“As our country takes a new and serious look at issues related to racial equality, I am comforted by seeing my belief that equality is both necessary and possible is shared across the country. In particular, I was encouraged to see that elected leaders in the City of Jackson, Mississippi recently voted to remove the statue of our shared namesake Andrew Jackson from city hall grounds. I was most notably touched by the words of Jackson's Mayor, Chokwe A. Lumumba, when he said he hoped the council's action would help "divorce" the name of the city from "the legacy of a brutal owner of enslaved people who was instrumental in initiating the Trail of Tears against indigenous people." The Mayor and Council's actions are commendable and speak loudly in the fight against racism and discrimination. Because they were willing to take a stand, acceptance, fairness and justice will be attainable for all. It is my hope the elected officials of Jackson County will also stand together to take the same bold and courageous step forward for the betterment of our community.”

No reason to have it there, take it down. Move to the next issue.

^^^

Or better yet, let the people have a vote on it.

Let the people vote on it.

Besides what this fool doing messing around with issues in another town when he can't even deal with the ones here.

And the clueless, malignant disaster is heard from.

If/when the statue comes down I demand that the county be renamed and that government business (county and city) stop accepting $20.00 bills for payment. Every street and public/private building that has Jackson in its name should be forced to change the name.

If Andrew Jackson is such a tipping point for those who are of a delicate nature then everything must change. Or, it's all just a stupid charade.

Frankie can’t make a decision or come up with anything on his own, he just does what everybody else is doing, I pity the fool.

Better idea. Keep the statue and get rid of Frank White.

4:56 when they do that I want everything that has Jackson on it replaced with a new name, everything from pens, paper, envelopes, street and park signs, clothes and I mean everything. I can’t even come close to figuring out how much money that would cost.... up to a billion dollars maybe?

Let the people and the replacement costs be the deciding factor before making any ridiculous changes.

distraction from chaos in the streets.

restore civil order first.

the feds are so alarmed that they're bringing a small army to do what local government hadn't.

all local leaders should resign.

Go back to Mississippi they need your help.

Maybe ask the people who actually have the name Jackson to hear what they have to say - they may want their name to remain.

Replace it with a statue of Bo Jackson so we at least won't have to change the county name. Bo Jackson is black. He was an athlete. He once showed tremendous potential but failed to live up to it. Is that sufficiently PC for the SJWs?

Frank, as a white person, I don’t like you having the name of my race. If I get a mob together and we loot and burn and act like feral animals, will you change your name? It shouldn’t be any mystery why so many people have no use for your race. And trust me, it’s definitely not limited to whites. I work with Asians, Indians and Hispanics and none of them are fond of blacks either. When such is the case, you have to start looking back at yourself and your race and accepting responsibility for the problems you all create.

Your first sentence is bullshit 7:33 but so that I won't get blamed for choosing to encroach on your pursuit of happiness in the good ol' u.s.a I'll leave it at that.

Let's apply your last paragraph to white people. Can you look in the mirror and honestly say there are no black people that look like you? Good for you if you can.

Andrew Jackson was a two-term; outstanding President and the General that won the War of 1812 when the British invaded the United States and burned the white house.

Frank White after receiving millions to bat .260 while playing the child's game of baseball mis-managed his personal finances whereby he did not pay his property taxes and was bailed out by the prior Jackson County Executive who now is in Federal prison for fraud.

The United States has gone to hell when a loser and fraud like Frank White demands a hero like Andrew Jackson's statue be torn down.

I hate Frank White and every crooked Democrat politician like him.
