TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! PROGRESSIVES PUSH FOR KANSAS CITY CHIEFS NAME CHANGE AS REDSKINS AND INDIANS RETHINK CONTROVERSIAL MONIKERS!!!
The branding of the Kansas City Chiefs and controversial 'Arrowhead Chop' is getting harder to justify as the #BlackLivesMatter movement and a progressive cultural revolution has already started to transform longstanding local symbols.
Before their Super Bowl win, the Kansas City Chiefs endured national scrutiny and "the chop" was politely ignored by national TV broadcasts. Whilst locals LOVE the Arrowhead tradition, the insulting faux war cry has been undeniably out of favor among the media elite for at least a decade and was unmentioned as road warrior fans dominated the Super Bowl crowd with the contentious gesture and gibberish chant.
Amateur cowtown historians attempt to salvage the racist legacy by noting that the Kansas City Chiefs were named for old school Mayor H. Roe Bartle. But even this cultural appropriation tribute doesn't hold up well over time.
In an even more effective defense of the name, The Kansas City Chiefs front office has incorporated tribes in their branding and to deflect from criticism.
Nevertheless, on the national level the divide & conquer strategy isn't effective as many Native Americans & progressives denounce the use of indigenous culture as a mascot.
And whilst star QB Patrick Mahomes has avoided the debate despite some Internets misdirection . . . The NFL is quickly changing course and now seems to be embracing player activism.
To wit . . .
THERE'S NO DENYING THE RACIST HISTORY OF THE KANSAS CITY CHIEFS AS LOCAL PROGRESSIVES STILL PUSH FOR A NAME CHANGE BEHIND THE SCENES!!!
The reality is that the Chiefs keeping their name whilst the Redskins and the Indians rebrand is unlikely.
A few activists that we've sent messages to believe that the inevitable Redskins rebrand will increase pressure against Kansas City's football franchise to adopt a more "inclusive" name.
Accordingly . . .
Times are, in fact, changing rapidly and the hard fought Super Bowl glory of the Kansas City Chiefs has already been consigned to history as the new season starts amid the pandemic, divisive election year politics and civil unrest that threatens to fundamentally change not only the character of the nation but the foundation of the team.
