TKC BREAKING NEWS!! KANSAS CITY PROTESTS THREATEN WESTPORT PARTY DISTRICT SATURDAY NIGHT!!!
At the outset of this month, Kansas City protesters burned a wagon in the middle of Westport and caused a great deal of damage at one of the entertainment district's most beloved drinking establishments.
In the aftermath, it turned out the slave history they were criticizing wasn't completely accurate and protesters didn't acknowledge hat the old building changed hands several times since the abolition of slavery. In fact, the Irish hooligans who own the place now seem pretty chill as they benefit from their grandpappy's legacy of hard work and community involvement . . . Fun fact, many of TKC's Chicano kinfolk & friends have been welcomed with open arms over DECADES as this place is happy to sell booze to paying customers of every background. But I digress . . .
Tonight's update . . .
MORE WESTPORT PROTEST IS UNDERWAY AS DENIZENS OF THE PARTY DISTRICT GROW WEARY OF SOCIAL JUSTICE ACTIVISTS TARGETING THEIR HAUNT!!!
First, here's a public post on the effort to shut down good times in Westport tonight . . .
"(An Activist) has organized a protest in Westport outside Kelly’s Westport Inn. There are probably close to 40-50 people here.
"They’re calling for police accountability, for Chief Rick Smith to be fired and calling for justice for the men killed by KCPD."
And now a message from a boozy friend of the blog and Westport barfly . . .
"Not again! Can't I enjoy a drink on the weekend without having to listen to this b*llsh*t?!?!! I agree they have the right to protest. But take it to city hall! There are people here trying to make a living and others who just want to relax and blow off some steam. But noooooooooooo . . . We've got to be careful to make sure we don't offend the protesters who are basically calling us racist for wanting to spend a few bucks at LOCALLY OWNED drinking establishments. T, here's the funny thing. I basically agree with them but going after Westport is a dumb move. They're telling us we're racist even if history shows that most of the people who live around her are always voting Democrat and support equal rights. Westport welcomes everyone. Yeah, we've had our problems but the crowd here is a good mix of KC. Whatever. Shouting racism at people who just want to have a few beers is not productive."
Side note . . . Let's not forget that social distancing protocols remain in effect and shouting at strangers might not be favored by Dr. Fauci.
