Missouri governor supports trying kids 12 to 18 as adults
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - Missouri Gov. Mike Parson is asking lawmakers to approve legislation that would allow judges to decide whether a child between the ages of 12 and 18 should be tried as an adult in court for unlawful use of weapons and armed criminal action.
Don't do the crime if you can't do the time kiddies.

If these deadbeat parents won't control their kids and teach them values respect, right from wrong and how blessed they are to live in this country then the Gov. should step in and throw the flipping book at them. If 12 year old's can go out and riot loot and kill then treat them as an adult. Spare no punishment.
Agreed. Age should not exclude someone from prison or execution.

ReplyDeleteBut, thank god for Mayor Parson putting his foot down and getting these criminal juveniles off the street before they turn into criminal adults. QBall knelt with them, and now they feel empowered to commit crime with impunity!
We have to keep the prison complex churning and recidivism rates up, so yes, imprison every one for every thing, regardless of age. It's good for the country.
ReplyDeleteTeens under age 18 (but not as young as 12) are often tried as adults. It depends on the nature of the crime and their own criminal history.
ReplyDeleteThe change I think is needed is to make juvenile arrest and conviction records available for use at trial and sentencing in adult criminal cases.
