SHOCK!!! NORTHEAST NEIGHBORHOOD LEADER DEBATES KANSAS CITY POLICE OVER BLOCK PARTY AMID CORONAVIRUS!!!
We've got more to talk about this but for now here's a Northeast debate that's gaining traction but has yet to make the mainstream news.
To wit . .
CHECK NORTHEAST RESIDENT MANNY ABARCA CHALLENGING KCPD ON COMMUNITY OUTREACH CORONVIRUS SAFETY PROTOCOLS!!!
Checkit . . .
"Can @kcpd explain to me why they partnered with organizations outside of this community’s Neighborhood Association, even inviting churches outside the City of KCMO, to have a community event over 10 people without proper social distancing or mask wearing? This conveniently occurred in the neighborhood that called for police accountability weeks prior. The church from the crossroads, (in the blue shirts) and the group outside of KCMO (in the green shirts) rushed in to provide hotdogs, snow cones, bomb pops and bounce houses all during a global pandemic in the neighborhood that called for police accountability. Where disproportionately black and brown children seem to be effected by #COVID19 at dramatically higher rates. I appreciate how the @NortheastNews found the few mask pictures they had taken . . ."
Mr. Abarca then provides pix of the neighborhood party . . .
And then . . .
Response from KCPD:
"Then you're welcome to call the major's office. Though it doesn't provide quite the opportunity for grandstanding on social media, we find face-to-face discussions foster greater understanding than sniping on Twitter. Have a great evening."
Again, there's a lot more to unpack on this one but for now we wanted to ask readers about their first impressions.
