SHAME!!! WEAK MAYOR QUINTON LUCAS WANTS MISSOURI GUV PARSON & GOP TO SOLVE KANSAS CITY HOMICIDE PROBLEM!!!
Kansas City outcry over a homicide crisis and skyrocketing rate of violence now impacting police elicited an underwhelming political response today from Mayor Quinton Lucas.
To wit . . .
CITY HALL ENACTED THE SAME ANTI-GUN RHETORIC AGAINST THE MISSOURI GOP USED BY FORMER MAYOR SLY!!!
At least Mayor Sly had the decency to get the New York Times on board his partisan gambit that hoped to dodge responsibility.
Money line from the Mayor's Remarks:
"Given our challenges, I respectfully request that you call a Special Session of the Missouri General Assembly with a focus on addressing violence in our cities. I would ask that our senators and representatives vote on legislation to enhance witness protection funding in Missouri and address how we can provide more tools for law enforcement and prosecutors to interrupt conspiracies to commit murder and other violent acts, particularly offenses committed by felons using deadly weapons.
"While we will continue to pursue a broad set of social services and other tools to address violent crime now and in the future, specific action from Jefferson City can help us apprehend and incarcerate murderers currently walking the streets of Kansas City and protect witnesses in our neighborhoods who are frequently scared to speak."
Accordingly . . .
Today's mayoral response to historic KCMO violence has been exceptionally disappointing inasmuch as there is no new plan to address the rising carnage on local streets. Mayor Quinton Lucas has proven ineffective and inept at offering any solutions to curb the historic crime rate. His skill is limited to nothing more than putting a new spin on an old idea that failed to resonate with residents. Kansas City is begging for leadership in this losing battle against crime and today's response from Mayor Lucas was nothing more than an embarrassing blame shift.
