Reminder: Kansas City Must Reject Every Nice Memory They've Made On The Plaza Because Of Some Dead Racist White Dude

Apropos to start Kansas City #TBT . . . Here's world renowned historian Michael Beschloss casting shame on Kansas City whilst promoting his next work. Enjoy:

Billboard hawking new restricted white neighborhood, Kansas City, 1912:

Jesse Clyde "J. C." Nichols (August 23, 1880 - February 16, 1950) was an American developer of commercial and residential real estate in Kansas City, Missouri. Born in Olathe, Kansas and a student at the University of Kansas and Harvard University, his most notable developments are the Country Club District and Country Club Plaza in Kansas City, which influenced suburban developments in other parts of the United States.

  1. Why don’t black people just go away. They are annoying and we have bigger problems to deal with ... I mean isn’t there a place we can put them ?

  2. There have been no racial restrictions for many many years, and yet most Blacks choose to live in neighborhoods where they are surrounded by other Blacks. So tell me again, what impact did restrictions have?

  3. And whites are not particularly welcome in THEIR neighborhoods either.

  4. Blacks don't want to live with blacks. No problem.
Whites, Asians, Indians dont want to live with blacks BIG PROBLEM. WTF

This country was built on the backs of black slave labor. Granted, it was hundreds of years ago, and no one alive today had anything to do with it, and I personally can find zero proof of systemic racism, but we must remember the past and pay reparations! Well, except let's not remember any of the past we don't agree with, because we just want to erase any parts of history we don't agree with, like slavery and slave owners...But...If we do that, then we have to forget about the reasons for reparations too. Weird.

    1. BS. The economy was built on the backs of many immigrants. Most of the inventive ideas to revolutionize industry came from those of European descent. All immigrants who came to this country faced extreme adversity and bigotry. The only difference is blacks are still whining about it and want more free shit, which just continues the cycle of excuses and many not being productive members of society. Of course it’s a fact that many black kids grow up fatherless. Until black women stop allowing black men to get away with lack of responsibility the cycle will continue. If
you can’t make it here, go elsewhere and shake another country down.

    J. C. Nichols has been dead for 70 years. Sure is appropriate to call him a bad person now. Why degrade his memory and deeds? Why not just forget him?

  9. Built on the backs of slave labor? Their weren’t that many plantations and the South was economically far behind the North because the North embraced the industrial revolution, making labor more efficient, while the South held on to an idealized agrarian way of life that could not compete. This country was built on the backs of inventors and titans of industry who had the vision build the most productive economy in the world. Free market economics made America great, not slave labor. All slave labor did was pick cotton until the machinery was invented to replace them.

  10. Still using horse and carriage instead of the automobile back then - what a struggle it must of been.

Maybe go back to archives to check how many residents of the country club area were from germany or other foreign countries hence they not wanting other races around.

  11. ^^and yet we won't because most of don't care and aren't hung up on race like you apparently are. We've evolved you haven't. Weird.

  12. Unlike yourself 11:13, I have been in a few of those older homes in that proposed country club area. Some of those people had so much money to burn that they couldn't give a shit less about you, who I presume is black, or me, a white person. Somehow they got rich and want to be away from where they were at before.

I've run across old receipts and catalogs from the olden days left behind in some of those older homes when it came rehab time between owners and would be in awe of value of some items. I'd keep it to myself most times and just figured these type of people earned or just flat out wanted the good life, found it and preferred to be left alone.

Probably still the same, just a different time period. I could be wrong about you never being over there, just assuming.

    "We've evolved you haven't. Weird."

I think Darwin would say there is a legitimate question surrounding your above assertion. Looks to me an awful lot like behavior I see in the old Tarzan movies. Just sayin'.....

  15. I don't qualify under "boomer" - missed it by a few years. I won't say it's worthless discussing.

You guys wonder why there's racism sometimes? Let's start with Nichols. He being from Olathe back in the day and more than likely no colored people around growing up I'd say he was just following protocol of the leaders/developers before himself or the money. He has no reason to be prejudiced..........yet, imo.

Did he run into problems with minorities when in K.c? Who knows, I can't venture to say.

Like I mentioned a few weeks back - removing his name from the fountain just alientnated whites further away from the minority than what was before. Me personally? Still undecided I guess.

  18. Do native Kansas Citians still feel connected to the Plaza, or is it more of a tourist zone now?

    1. Why go to the Plaza when Lees Summit and Johnson County, which keep the riff raff put offer great places for entertainment. Plaza is a tourist trap and turning into a run down area.

  19. ^^^^I think it's more or less lost connection with about everyone but the protesters and black kids.
