With Redskins name change, KC Chiefs and a local HS team come into focus, too

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - On Monday, Washington's NFL team announced they're getting rid of their Redskins name and logo. Some people are calling for the Chiefs to do the same. The team is facing mounting pressure to change their name and much of the Native American imagery that takes place at games.

  1. I can see the Redskins changing their name that's really kind of a bad name. The Chiefs on the other hand isn't really a bad thing but if the indians want it changed it probably should be, after all the indians aren't very nice people.
I think the Chiefs should change their name to the kneeling commies.

  2. We have too many chiefs and not enough indians. Kelli Ferguson, former Chiefette cheerleader who dated Henry Marshall will tell you that.

  3. if the Chiefs do submit to changing their name, it should be to the

  5. It's going to be changed to the Kansas City Police Chiefs just to piss off the Democrats. The theme from Dragnet will be played before each kick-off.

  8. The Redskins should be renamed to the Washington Horse Soldiers. At halftime turn an Indian loose on the 50 yard line with a bow and arrow. The soldier rides at him armed with a saber. Indian gets beheaded. Even the gay Washington fans cheer.

  9. The Kansas City Killas. The Kansas City Homicide. How about the Kansas City Prospect Avenue Shooters?

  10. Doing the chop and chant surrounded by thousands of whites while at the stadium just feels strange if you ever take a second in the moment and reflect on what's happening. With indigenous peoples being a vulnerable population I feel the Chiefs as a branded organization has too much potential as an opportunity for collaborations and partnerships to benefit natives and build bonds with the community at large.

It would be said to throw that all away for some tired old kitsch theatrics. Why can't we come up with something new, we have like 1 thing. Look at the sports culture of audience spectators over seas - they have loads of different chants, sing-alongs that aren't 50 year old classic rock. There so many ways one can express themselves as an individual and as a crowd.
    We can do better.
