REALITY CHECK: HALF BILLION DOLLAR DEAL BETWIXT PATRICK MAHOMES & KANSAS CITY CHIEFS BASICALLY SUBSIDIZED BY KCMO TAXPAYERS!!!
A not-so-fun fact from a local blog that deserves late night contemplation . . .
"Jackson County pays $3.5 million per year for stadium maintenance, while Kansas City provides $2 million annually. Kansas City residents are taxed three times for the stadiums: first as city residents, then as Jackson County taxpayers and again as residents of Missouri."
And let's not forget about the habitual stadium upgrades wherein the Chiefs always stay winning against taxes despite their record on the field.
And so, after our discussion of the contract news earlier today here's an overview of Kansas City's moment in the national spotlight which might not mention that Super Bowl glory is supported by broke-ass residents of this town who will suffer rising taxes, fees and prices as the pandemic, protests and campaign 2020 persist.

You decide . . .
The Romans knew the deal. It's still just Bread & circuses. The people will remain silent as long as they're well fed and entertained.
ReplyDelete^^^ High carbs?
DeleteYes, sports stars are thought to be the Gods of today. But they are not really Gods at all...
ReplyDeleteThis should make locals happy when they're kicked out of their homes when the evictions come.
ReplyDeleteThis young man is one of the best players to ever take the field anywhere. He is confident and respectful. He never has scandal or makes demands. He plays the business game better than people with years more experience. He is one sharp cookie and I can now say that I am confident of the Chiefs having a dynasty. Congratulations Mr. Mahomes, congratulations.
ReplyDelete^^^^ OVERRATED.
ReplyDeletePeople down the street are being evicted but at least they have Mahomes.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry but nobody and I mean nobody is worth that kind of money. And it could all come crashing down on the first play of the season. When people on a field playing the same style games as high school kids and are paid more money than even the POTUS makes a year you have to question the mind set of the people anymore. Is he good, yes the guy is good, is he the best ever.........well he still hasn't proven that yet.
ReplyDeleteA good many quarterbacks have won more rings than Patrick and he will have to win at least a total of six and honestly that's seven Super Bowl rings to ever be known as the best or greatest. Seven seasons on a football field can to some quarterbacks be the hill that was just to high to climb.
Dave is dead on the money again
ReplyDeleteAnd just think that Kansas City fucktards have no one but themselves to blame for this fleecing. You all support this shit by being a fucking goddamn jocksniffer.
ReplyDeleteMahoomes needs to hire 4 different, unconnected, financial advisary firms. He can them pit them against each other for returns. Drop the worse performer every 4 years. Otherwise that fortune could disappear in thin air. Plan, plan plan!
ReplyDeleteAnd don't invest in all in Valiant Pharma stock, like DST Systems Ind did for their now sucking bad retirement plan! Actually I think they invest 30% of everyone's money in Valiant.
Mahomes probably deserves it if you think about how much money he makes Chiefs. But when you think about how much money Kansas City pays for this team the benefit is minimal.
ReplyDeleteI feel sorry for the truly poor Royals players. They are dirt poor compared to Mahoome. I hope Mahoomes stays his humble self. Money does change people. But lets hope it works out. Sorry Royals players, its got to be deflating for you.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if he can send me a cash app, modest contribution?
ReplyDeleteMahomes.
ReplyDeleteLowes.
Cordish.
And the taxpayer subsidies just roll on and on.
Brought to you by the same local politicos who rail against "income inequality" and man the barricades with their bullhorns to "fight" for a $15/hour minimum age.
And the bread and circuses comment is right on the money.
A clueless easily-entertained and distracted public with the attention span of a gnat.
Let the games begin!
Oh, and be sure to ask for the political views of each and every football player and stand for the "Black National Anthem".
Pondering if our poor innocent blacks question how one has $450 million and many have to shoot people just to feed their drug habits. Weird
ReplyDeleteBLM at its finest !!!
ReplyDeleteI would hope Pat donates at least half his salary to BLM. They will need help sustaining the progress already made and there is much to be done yet.
ReplyDelete"Basically"......classic. How about this for a headline. NFL owners basically subsidized by taxpayers. Leave Mahomes out of this. He's simply a product of capitalism and taking his rare talents to the highest bidder.

ReplyDeleteThe KC Chiefs organization, owned by a non-resident Texas billionaire, with management who lives in Kansas, players who live in the nice suburbs or out-of-state, and all largely funded by corporate welfare!!!
Patrick is a great, great quarterback.
ReplyDeleteHowever, our society is upside down paying an NFL quarterback $450 million when our streets, schools, sewer and water infrastructure is falling apart and poor people are paying huge amounts for basic water services and property taxes.
$ 1 million a year to anybody, whether an NFL player or Corporate CEO, seems plenty enough.
Congrats to Patrick; if someone is willing to pay him half a billion then I would take the money and run as well.
ReplyDeleteIt just seems odd to have fans living paycheck to paycheck going out to Arrowhead Stadium and screaming their head off for a guy making $500 million to play a kids game.
Most of the NFL players are like Kaperdick and hate the very fans that pay their salary.
^^^Huh? So now Kapernick hates the fans? You really are a crusty old bastard aren't you?
ReplyDeleteFirst non winning season ( 2020 ) and he'll be the most hated player ever. It might be the 2021 season, as first you will fire the coaching staff in the blame game . Either way most fans are losers and won't do anything more than crybaby after the loss. Glory days. Glory days.
