OVERLAND PARK ARREST OF PROTESTERS SPARKS CONTINUED CONTROVERSY!!!

Johnson County debate persists after last week's Black Lives Matter protest ran into trouble when demonstrators crossed into neighborhood streets and some homeowners threatened activists.

Police escorted the group and urged the group to stay out of the road . . . Amid 4 arrests, there as been one charge of battery against an officer which sparked more debate.

Last night there was a small dust-up at an Overland Park police oversight meeting that was mostly just a tirade about community conversations regarding "social justice" and/or more opportunities for captivating public yelling . . .

  1. yes, the home owners were yelling at the protesters but that was because the protesters marched down their street in the middle of the night yelling.

  2. Nothing good happens at night with these fools and idiots.

  3. These protesters wanted attention and played everyone including the media right into their hands. But the body cams very clearly show what took place and why. Marching down a residential street after 9:00 at night yelling through a bullhorn is disturbing the peace of those who live there and those residents should not have to endure such activity. Far as I'm concerned many more arrests should have been made. How come the Richmonds didn't protest on the streets in their neighborhood?

    ReplyDelete
  4. Protest in your own neighborhood and in your own city. There is zero connection between that neighborhood and that street and your issue. Making this entirely a fabricated event. Saying that you are following the laws as you repeatedly and continuously violate the laws doesn't pass the smell test. Having your husband physically try to free you is in fact against the law and a chargeable offense. Overland Park police have the support of their community.

  6. Thank you OPPD.

The Richmonds have a nice $350k house over in Shawnee. It's worth more than the houses where they were arrested. They can march through their own neighborhood.

  7. That shit don’t fly in my city! Take that shit back to killa shitty where your child mayor lets them destroy the economy and businesses!

Unlike that worthless douchebag, we back our police 100%!

  8. It would have been nice to see the protesters receiving an epic beatdown, like with fractured skulls, faces beat in, broken legs and arms.

    No protest after dark.
Protest down at city hall until everybody takes a knee and then go home and feel like you served a righteous cause, but really didn't.

  11. @52:00 - Protester to Homeowner: "Get your ass back into your house!".

Hey protester, why don't you take your ghetto talk and stay in your own neighborhood and protest.

These Marxist Anarchists are testing the boundaries to see how far they can go with violence and intimidation of citizens.

  12. Thank you Marxist Democrat Party protesters.

You just sealed the vote for Trump in 2020 in Overland Park !

  13. Two observations: In OP and KC there are HOA's. It would be a good idea if all HOA's have a rule that you cannot march in our neighborhoods. What surprised me was that only one homeowner confronted the marchers. Perhaps the homeowners were intimidated which speaks volumes. Too bad.

"The Purge" is to the crime wave as "Contagion" is to the pandemic, fictionalized but instructive.

  15. Protesting is the idiot's way of doing things. They don't know any better and defiantly don't know how to change things.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Sure, they can walk through my neighborhood screaming. And I can sit on my porch with a bat or gun and a camera.

But don't be surprised what happens when they decide walking on the streets isn't enough. Or we vote these idiot OP politicos out.

Enough of this bullshit. If the cops won't protect us we have to protect ourselves.

  18. I'm not sure who the organizing group is but they are idiots. They release a long statement about police brutality, false arrest, etc. then they go on to boycott KCTV5 news, and then the police release body camera videos that show a woman resisting arrest after continuing to disobey the police and calling out to her husband (idiot #1) who runs over and tries to physically free her (idiot #2) and the organizing group releases a statement that is directly contradicted by the video (idiot #3). Reporters will not report the facts after watching the video and reading the groups statement (idiot #4) for fear of a boycott. The sad thing is a large swath of our population read the statement without watching the video (idiot #5) and this cycle continues over-and-over.

WHO IS THE LADY YELLING ABOUT NAME AND BADGE #???? (SUPER idiot #6).

  19. There is no purpose for protest in neighborhoods. What is the goal?

Disturbing the peace at night! These nut jobs risk provoking some other nut job that's going to go postal on their sorry asses. Wonder who they will call upon for help?

Protesters these days are nothing more than idiots with too much time paid for by government handouts.
These are not responsible quality citizens as you tell by their behaviors and idiotic demands.

  20. The “victim”, the mudshark and all their trashy cohorts can go to hell. Stirring up trouble in someone else’s neighborhood, walking on other people’s property, etc. should not be tolerated. They should feel lucky they got off as easily as they did.

  21. They need to protest with a bullhorn on a street east of Troost at 1 a.m. Good luck!

  22. Thoughts:

Does KCMO keep their distance from rioters because of budget thriftiness? Does KCMO not realize their budget evaporates when rioters drive out the tax base?

Should OP waste money on officer escorts of rowdy marchers through neighborhoods? Are they protecting homeowners from themselves, sensing what will happen to the protestors if no cops are around?

Marching through OP neighborhoods in evening hours is disturbing the peace. Sidewalk, or not.

Ask OP "protesters" if they're protesting something in that neighborhood, or just trying to change minds. They'll say it's the latter, which a NO SOLICITING sign should dictate a response.

OPPD, activists disagree on tactics used during Friday night protest is an appropriate title for the KSHB link because the activists led by Stacy Shaw, who probably thinks she is the KCMO version of race baiter Al Sharpton especially when wagging/pointing her finger, could not get their way and destroy property.

  27. The "demonstrators" are definitely wrong in their intent to cause a disturbance in OP. The woman "talking" to the police officer, who was extremely respectful and composed, while she ranted at him asking him the same basic question a hundred times screeching words out as fast as she can but never letting him answer is not a peaceful demonstrator. What an asshole.

  28. This crap is being paid for by your tax dollars. The BV and SMSD are helping to organize and promote. Tax dollars. The extra cops to take care of these assholes and yes the cops are there for these asssholes as many would beat the shit of them. tax dollars. Many of these parents are from KC brookside who voted for all this shit then moved out to OP because they created a shit hole where they used to live and they vote for the same shit they moved from.

    ReplyDelete
  34. 10:01 you are correct.

This won't be an isolated incident. It's just the first salvo against OP. Video from this incident will be packaged and used to label OP as "racist".
Going forward, leftists will beat the drum of "racism" against OP and push for "change". That "change" will be in the form of a new mayor, police chief, and district attorney (DA), come election time. If those positions are filled by leftists/democrats sympathetic to the "social justice"/BLM cause, the police will be neutered as they are in Seattle, Portland, etc. The DA will not prosecute the rioters. You will be effectively disarmed, and your neighborhood will be subject to the whims of the mob. In fact, the DA may attack you. (See the McCloskey case in St. Louis)

Leftists/democrats have a lot of money behind them and are organized. News outlets are biased and compromised. Sharice Davids got elected.
These other positions can be turned against you, in favor of the mob. Pay attention and vote wisely.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Charles Whitman,

    Why OP? Power and Money.

OP has a large tax base. See the post with the 11:48 time stamp for the big picture. This is a first step towards influencing an election and then controlling the city's money. If you win elections, you control money (and people). It's not about race or equality.

Go ahead and vote Trump and all conservative politicos out in November, and you may happily expect more of the same in "spades".

  39. A lot of this mess stems from diversity being forced onto people which is not right. Those who appreciate and seek out diversity for themselves or their families know where to find it. There are diverse neighborhoods, diverse schools, diversity festivals and events, etc. However, sometimes people want to be around their own tribes (i.e. whites in a white neighborhood, blacks in a black church, gays in a gay bar, guys in a fraternity, girls in a sorority, etc.). No one, regardless their identity, wants to be forced to comply with anything that they don’t want to be a part of. It’s just common sense.

"Overland Park deserves freedom of speech too!"

And they have it. That includes the BLM protesters, too. OPPD never once attempted to stop the protest and it continued even after the arrests were made. There was never any effort made to shut things down. OPPD did two things:

    1. Kept protesters off of private property. People were indeed in the yards of homeowners. No arrests were made for this and the police simply got them to move along.

    2. Kept protesters out of the street. The group was asked and then warned time and time again to move onto the sidewalk. Only after people repeatedly refused to do so were any arrests made.

    That's all. Those two things.

Members of the protest group intentionally provoked the police to arrest them in order to create the appearance of their rights being violated. They were trying to elicit sympathy for their cause by attempting to portray the OPPD as the aggressors trying to crush their cause. They failed because there is plenty of evidence of what actually happened. If you don't understand this I would suspect you are either one of those persons or too close minded to even seek out the facts of the situation.
