Newsflash: More Taxpayer Cash Will Save Embattled 18th & Vine Jazz District

There's not much of a plan to prevent rampant violence in this entertainment district but an effort to GARNER MORE TAXPAYER CASH and stifle the very few successful businesses in the district (i.e. the daiquiri bar) will undoubtedly chase more local biz away . . . Read more:

18th and Vine business leaders hope CID will change violent narrative of district

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - After a rash of homicides, shootings, vandalism and blight in Kansas City's 18th and Vine District this year, business leaders hope a Community Improvement District (CID) will solve some of those issues.

  1. The 18th and Vine neighborhood is like a Hollywood film set, with more fake storefronts than real ones, to provide the illusion that there is a successful thriving black business zone in KCMO.

Mayor Lucas lives in this fictional neighborhood.

And please note that the 18th and Vine district is a segregated neighborhood. Many black KC residents do not want to integrate with others, though it doesn't stop them from claiming racism and discrimination.

Imagine if a different part of KC hosted a Caucasian Leagues Baseball Museum, a historically white newspaper office, a Country Western Music Museum, the Caucasian Archives of Mid-America, KC Friends of Fred Astaire, and the KC Suburban Youth Academy? Perfectly normal, move along please.

  2. NO, It's more like "lets dump more tax payer money into a black crime ridden community" that will never amount to anything, instead of pouring the money into areas like the Plaza that cater to the "25 million tourists" the city needs.

  3. That area is a money BLACK HOLE!!

  4. Nobody wants to go to a dangerous part of town to see anything, no matter how alluring it might be. Safety and security come first, which is something the Democrapic mayors seem to not have figured out in a lot of cities.

  12. Free enterprise should be practiced. Cities should not be in the entertainment business. This area is a lost cause, unless private money decides otherwise.
