Lucas said a number of recommendations were put forth, including limiting indoor dining, closing bars or reducing their hours and making masks mandatory in public at all times.

“Informative chat. Dr. Birx identified our region, including StL and KCMO/KS region and OK cities as area of rising infections, particularly asymptomatic spread for those under 30,” Lucas tweeted.

“Recommends we consider: (1) Reducing indoor dining to 25%; (2) mask orders at all times in public. Also to consider… (3) Closing bars or reduce outdoor alcohol sales/consumption on site to end at 10pm. Rec to make moves early and have seen modeling success in Phoenix.”

  11. Base the need for additional closures on ICU capacity, not infection rates. Remember, that was the reason given for closures last time (flatten the curve). With no viable vaccination on the horizon, most of the populous will eventually be infected. Trying to prevent that is a fool's effort. Tailor closures to capacity decreases, have as light a hand as possible in any necessary closures, and be willing to adjust the rules quickly as the situation evolves.

  15. No more protests anywhere at any time. If I can't go to a restaurant, then they cannot protest. If I were a resturant owner I would not comply as long as protesters are allowed to their first amendment rights.

  17. Close it down until a vaccine or else we all will get sick."

That's insane! With increased testing, the numbers will go up. Close it down for how long? Forever? What an idiot. I go back to my original argument: If protesters are allowed free reign then the rest of us should be allowed to eat, drink and spend our hard earned cash.

  19. TOP PHOTO -- THE BLACK DEATH OF DEMOCRATS

Q: According to the KCMO Health Department, how many residents under the age of 30 have died from COVID-19 in 2020?

    A: ZERO

Q: After total COVID-19 YTD deaths in KCMO had plateaued in the low to mid-30's by June/July, what suddenly caused a spike in late July so that they're now reporting a death total of 56? (nearly a doubling from the beginning of July)

    A: Fudging the data!

In KCMO, COVID-19 deaths remain almost exclusively a rare occurrence among senior citizens, particularly those already ill, immuno-compromised, or living in care facilities. These people should be protected, while everyone else goes back to work, school, and regular activities.
Quinton Lucas in KCMO and Governor Kelly in Kansas are purposely attempting to hamstring the economy, prolong the economic pain, and keep you isolated and afraid until the November election.

  21. Shutdown city hall.

    ReplyDelete
  22. On the Kansas side, Shutdown Granny is also at it again. There are almost 3 million people in Kansas. Only 335 people of those 3 million have died of COVID. The flu killed more people in Kansas last year. With the shutdowns, we have destroyed people's lives and financial futures; greatly increased drug overdose, alcohol overdose and domestic abuse cases; caused an uptick in suicides; and forever hurt the development of children's brains – all because of the deaths of .0000112 percent of the state's population … and to keep Sleepy Joe Biden safely in his basement bunker until the election is over.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Wow yet the protestors can do as they please. Mayor Q is so done in this town.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Yet the death rate has been declining since May due to advancements in treatments. This makes zero sense.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Mayor Lucas is deflecting again from his record homicide rate. KC is not safe people but not because of Covid.

    ReplyDelete
  26. This is absurd and completely uncalled for. The flu kills more people every year. This is starting to look more and more political each week. As the Covid death rate continues to drop shutdowns serve no purpose anymore other than to take people's livelihoods away and crash the economy for good. Mayor Lucas is so done in KC if this happens again.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Who is crazier? Lucas or shutdown granny?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Lucas has some egg on his face from Operation LeGend. Yes this was embarrassing for him, and should be, however he is now retaliating by taking it out on the residents of KC which is just wrong and somewhat childish. It is also not in his best interest but he is too stubborn to see it. The best thing for the Mayor to do at this point is create a new strategy for himself. Lucas should admit to himself he hasn't been the best leader at times, learn from it and move on. If businesses in KC remain open, more and more people go back to work and this is a very good thing for KC and the Mayor. Lower unemployment means the crime rate will drop in KC substantially. This will be a very good thing for the mayor and the people of KC, not to mention positively effect the livelihoods of residents of KC for them by continuing to have jobs for them. This not only keeps people busy and less depressed but also provides income to pay their bills. Another shutdown is not justified because Kansas City has only had 50 something deaths, which is nothing. Many more people die of the flu or other illnesses that are much more serious. Anyone who works at a hospital in KC knows the numbers of Covid are going up but also knows those patients are doing much better with the treatments now. The vast majority of people with Covid have no symptoms however if they do end up in a hospital now their stays are much shorter compared to April and much more successful. This is because the treatments have come a long way in four months. Mayor Lucas also has an opportunity to capitalize on this since the Governor of Kansas is being very overly reactive right now. Customers will come form Kansas to KC and businesses will thrive. Lucas' career will take off again. Crime will drop.. It is up to him to make the right decision for himself and the people of KC. Only he can do that. Peace.

  29. It is time for bar and restaurant owners to join together in KC and file a lawsuit against these "leaders" wether it is the mayor, governor or both. If Walmart, Home Depot, Lowe's, Chuck E. Cheese, Chipotle, Hyvee, Quik Trip, Trampoline gyms, parks, the zoo, Menard's, etc. can stay open then bars and restaurants should be allowed to stay open too. If people can protest, play sports, gather in groups at the lake, and have parties at one another's homes then bars and restaurants should be able to stay open. Covid doesn't just spread at bars and restaurants. It is time to stop singling bars and restaurants out.

    ReplyDelete
  30. It Is simply not fair to put all bars in the same category. The American Legion for example is like many bars now, mostly older people wearing masks and social distancing while drinking and catching up. Why should they be shut down when people are in closer proximity at stores, kids sporting events, the lake, etc. All bars aren't nightclubs with big crowds congregating closely mask free. This policy seems very unfair considering I went to my grandson's soccer game today and a lot of people there within close proximity of one another, many of them not wearing masks consistently. The players don't wear masks while playing either. These shutdowns just don't make sense anymore.

  31. Mayor McKneely needs to invite all restaurant and bar owners to MLK park for a social distanced kneel vigil.

    ReplyDelete
  32. As long as Lucas keeps getting appearances on national television telling a completely different story about the feds helping reduce violence in KCMO as he spouts locally, he's fine with whatever else his terrible decisions and upside-down priorities are causing others.
And don't forget to regularly call the New York Times to be sure that their readership thinks that KCMO and its "leadership" is woke.
    Narcissism on steroids.
This guy makes people like the Kardashians look like members of the clergy.
    Sad.

  33. Hw does act like the kartrashians! Very true! Lol!

    ReplyDelete
  34. He's following White House recommendations specific for this part of the country. This will be devastating for bars and restaurants. They are targeted because people mingle in close quarters without masks. IMHO outside dining should encouraged.

As to the deadliness of the virus... much much much lower than initially thought. So why so much reaction? First reason is to not overwhelm ICU capacity, especially this close to an election. Infection rates in many places are still low compared to Florida or Texas but they can skyrocket quickly and turn red voters blue.

We do not know when herd immunity occurs. It depends on degree of masking and social behaviors. Estimates range from 5% to 70%. I think NY data will give an answer. Vaccine....pffft.

There's conflicting information and agendas. We are going on 5 months of COVID and it's still difficult to judge how much concern is warranted and how much is over-reaction.

Personally I am paying attention to any clusters as that is a very high risk environment, but I am wondering how dangerous it really is to the general population.

  35. Mayor McDrinkerson desperately trying to look like a leader, and literally screwing it up every single time.

    ReplyDelete
  36. wouldn't you feel stupid if you're dead because you went bar-hopping and got corona three months before a vaccine wiped it out?

    ReplyDelete
  37. 8:15, no I wouldn't feel stupid because I'd be dead.

    ReplyDelete
  38. A vaccine is more likely to wipe out the human race than coronavirus. I am still waiting on a vaccine to wipe out the flu and the common cold. In the meantime, I would like to be able to go into a restaurant or bar so I can enjoy myself a little while I wait.

    ReplyDelete
  39. This is a good thing. If there is another shutdown this will be the final nail in the coffin for Mayor Lucas' career as Mayor in Kansas City and democratic leadership on the Kansas side. There is no way either of these two will be elected again. Granny likes does not care because she's of retirement age however Lucas should care about his career.
