Another sign of the times and a local company confronted obsolescence now that social media messages are free and much more fun than snail mail . . .
KCTV5: Hallmark announces approximately 120 layoffs, 90 from KC headquarters
Deets:
According to a Hallmark spokesperson, the company is transforming their business as people are now more likely to shop on digital platforms, especially with the coronavirus pandemic.
“To meet consumers’ changing needs, we’re investing in our marketing, modern digital experiences, and supply chain capabilities in ways that will help us reimagine how we deliver our products.”
Developing . . .
So much for that Trump economy.
ReplyDeleteCarona virus ruined that
DeleteYeah, for the last 20 years, have companies like Hallmark or Sprint ever hired anyone? All I ever read about since 2000 is layoffs, layoffs, layoffs.
ReplyDeleteBecause corporate profits and cheap labor in China.
ReplyDeleteTrump economy? It's hard to have any economy when Democrat "leaders" are forcing their citizens into lockdowns. In New Jersey, they are arresting businesses that stay open. Unless an economy can run on liquor, weed, and abortions, in some states there are very few business left open. You guys can;t have it both ways. Trump is downplaying the virus so people can go back to work, yet you call him an idiot for wanting people to go back to work. Which is it? Before the pandemic, this country had the best economic numbers in a century. The energy sector did a 180 and we were a net exporter of energy, so much so that we could tell the Arabs to take a hike. Black and women workers had the highest job participation rate ever. Unemployment was so low the US was the envy of the world, despite what CNN and MSNBC "reported" nightly. So the pandemic-forced shut downs were not Trump's fault in any way. Now, school children will be affected even more than they normally are, falling behind their international counterparts even further. But, yeah...Sure...Trump is responsible for this. And the riots in Portland are a myth, right? Is this Jerry Nadler? Weird.
ReplyDeleteThis virus is killing at an alarming rate. Had it been handled appropriately and early on things would not be so bad now. Had people listened n stopped gathering in large numbers we might be on a turn around now, businesses would be opened again. They are trying to save lives by keeping businesses closed o partially opened. Plain and simple there is no economy if consumers are sick, dying or dead.
DeleteI so agree! Thank you!!!
DeleteWell said Byron! Couldnta done better. 👍😎🇺🇸🌴
DeleteGreeting cards are like photographs, newspapers, magazines, catalogs, payphones, and other things computers and cell phones are running out of business. Not Trumps fault, Al Gore invented the internet remember ?
ReplyDeleteThey are making a Lesbian Christmas Movie however. Weird
ReplyDeleteI emailed them about this. I am not happy! I fo not care if prople are gay, I just do not want to watch it. I believe in one man one woman. Of course I got zero response. The LGBTQ need to create their own channel.
DeleteAgreed!!!!!!!!!
DeleteAgreeed!
DeleteI love hallmark movies but I will not watch that one!!
DeleteEverything that use to be good is now tainted be greed and sin. I was so smitten by hallmark movies that I watched hallmark all year long. Now even they want part of the gay mess. Sad
DeleteGreeting cards are like placemats on dining room table, which are three things only rich, white people know about. Weird
ReplyDeleteHallmark never planned more than a quarter ahead for anything. I have friends who were effected by a
ReplyDeletelay-off a year ago there. It’s definitely a dying business but also didn’t need to be that way. Should have diversified beyond their shitty Hallmark channel and never did. Family was fat and happy and had their money. Too bad.
They were doing this during the Obama ponzi scheme.
ReplyDeleteReimagining how to fuck people over.
ReplyDeleteAnyone notice how the TV channels regularly beat The KC Star with breaking news?
ReplyDeleteEven the news station’s website beats them for cool local stories and breaking news.
Hands down the video is much better... angles, editing etc.
Best of all?
It’s free and they are not whining about going broke.
And when their reporters retire- they quit for good...No egos.
But have have to hand it to the star- the more irrelevant they become... the harder left they slant. They broke every rule in journalism by not being biased and of course they are not balanced unless you think balanced means having a teeter totter with thousand pounds of losers on one end and no one one the other.
Is Karma great or what?
Like Cerner, Hallmark's best days are behind it.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised extremely overpriced ornaments, cards and trinkets aren't selling well.
ReplyDeleteWait !!!! What about staff to help make the Mixed Race, Lesbo Christmas movie that will tell the story of Christmas, but also convey an important message about diversity ?
ReplyDeleteNo lobo movies. Make your own movie channel leave hallmark alone!!!!!! I don't if you guy don't want to watch it! Leave the channel alone!!!!!!!
DeleteHallmark’s LGBT movie this year will be an instant classic. Goodbye Christmas Vacation... Hello Darnell and Tim under the mistletoe.
ReplyDeleteIt's a carpet licking flick. Ellen and Rachelle I think.
ReplyDeleteHallmark birthday cards cost $7 bucks which is kind of ridiculous. I would rather have someone buy me breakfast at the Waffle House.
ReplyDeleteStill sad they are going out of business. Probably from their founding to 1990, Hallmark was the best company in Kansas City to work for. Great retirement benefits.
For the longest time, Hallmark had the hottest women working for them of any company in Kansas City. Not even close. The Hallmark women were pretty, they were fashionable, they were nice and they were smoking hot !
Ooooh, la, la !
hallmark has been great. hope they figure out how to be as great in the future.
ReplyDeleteHallmark announces approximately 120 layoffs, 90 from KC headquarters
ReplyDelete...management is targeting heterosexuals for the downsizing move, while giving preferential treatment to the LGBTQZ employees.
If the internal emails become evidence in a discrimination lawsuit, management will need cards of condolence.
Byron, for once, good post. Glad to see you're coming around.
ReplyDeleteIf Hallmark really wants to help minority communities in America, they need to move the manufacturing and printing of their merchandise from China to east of Troost, south side of Chicago, south L.A., etc. Screw the hiring of another inclusion and diversity officer to falsely signal to the media how "woke" you are.
ReplyDeleteI have been a loyal Hallmark customer/collector for over fifty years. However, in 2019, Hallmark decided to include a gay couple in their annual ornament reveal booklet. I was flabbergasted that Hallmark pandered to such a small percentage of Americans and ignoring the fact that family-oriented customers would be offended. I wrote a letter regarding this to Hallmark and they responded “...they are inclusive...”. As far as I’m concerned, anyone can be anything they want to be, but Hallmark doesn’t have to promote it. Now Hallmark has said they will have transgender/homosexual themes in their movies. Needless to say, they have lost my loyalty. I’ve thrown away their rewards dollars. I have a right to express my opinion as much as Hallmark does, and I will speak it with my pocketbook.
ReplyDeleteMe too! I will spend my money at Hobby Lobby on Dayspring cards. No more Hallmark! Let the LGBTQ support them. See how that works
DeleteDay Spring is a part of Hallmark.
DeletePraise God for you
DeleteInclusive or diversity, not sure which word offends me more! A Charlton Heston quote “Political Correctness is just Tyranny with a Smiley Face!”
ReplyDeleteI’ve lived in Greater KC almost all my life and it’s sad to see a once fine company lose its way,0
I can't believe all the negative comments on here. No wonder why our economy is going to hell.
ReplyDeleteOr why you are
DeleteHave 3 Hallmarks channels now. Very soon to be 0 Hallmarks channels. Surely I don't need to explain why.
ReplyDeleteMovements in this country will never be satisfied until they FORCED everyone to believe what they believe or intimidate them to be quiet, where is the inclusive or diversity in that? If you truly only wanted that when it comes to rights you wouldn't be taking our rights to live a biblical standard of life. Which proves my point exactly. You want to force us to live and accept your standards. It will never happen. God has always had a remnant of people that has always stood for morality and decency and he will until the rapture takes place. I'm a remnant and not ashamed.
ReplyDeleteHallmark is turning it back on the families who made it what it is if homosexuals want their movies they have their own Channels I'm sick of their agendas being shoved down my throat I'm not watching a channel that I have to worry about the kids seeing this craziness they can have their own hallmark channel stand up for what's right give them their own Channel and let the current channel stay as is
ReplyDelete
