KANSAS CITY URBAN COALITION DENOUNCES 'FEDERAL OCCUPATION' AND DEMANDS RESIGNATION OF KCPD CHIEF SMITH AT SIT-IN PROTEST TODAY!!!
Community resistance to an upcoming federal law enforcement crackdown reaches the tipping point this afternoon.
Here's a recent statement, call to action and a sign of continued civil unrest and push back against police in Kansas City and across the nation . . .
Statement From The Urban League Of Greater Kansas City
ACTION ALERT: Please join us for a Press Conference and Sit In Protest on the steps of the Kansas City Missouri Police Department tomorrow, FRIDAY, JULY 10th at 3pm.
Attorney General Barr announced that the Department of Justice is sending 100+ FBI agents to Kansas City. Kansas City got to this point because of the the KCPD's failure to keep our communities safe at the direction of Police Chief, Rick Smith.
The Urban League of Greater Kansas City, NAACP of Kansas City, and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference is holding a press conference standing against federal occupation and calling for the resignation of KCPD Chief, Rick Smith. After the press conference, we will sit in and protest until our demands are met in front of the KCPD Police Department.
We welcome all organizations, activist, elected officials, and community leaders to stand with us against this forceful action by the Department of Justice and Chief Smith's resignation so that we can start building a safer community for all.
WE WILL STAND TOGETHER, BUT WE MUST WEAR MASKS AND SOCIALLY DISTANCE FROM ONE ANOTHER - See you soon Kansas City!
