Kansas City Shoppers Scared To Return To Plaza After Violent Protest & Pandemic Threat

Retail is a tough sell under the best of circumstances . . . Now, Kansas City's highest profile entertainment district struggles to stay afloat after unwillingly serving as a social justice battleground for rioters vs. police and activists against local history . . . Take a look at the plan for survival:

Plaza shops hit hard by pandemic, experts say adapting is key to survival

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Visitors can still be spotted walking around the Country Club Plaza, but there are fewer places open for the shoppers to browse with more empty storefronts during the COVID-19 pandemic. "People are still reluctant to go out, and rightly so," Lane 4 Property Group Senior Vice President Tom O'Leary said.

  1. KSHB and Lane 4 properties must have forgotten about the violent protests. Who would want to own or operate a business, or be a customer in an area that's ground zero for SJW mobs? Be prepared to board up and close indefinitely at a moment's notice....

    ReplyDelete
  2. Do you think that when these protests fade, the problem will be over? Now that they know they can get away with it...it will happen again and again in future years.

  3. Black related violence keeps most people out of the Plaza area. That started years ago. Can't blame throwing couples in fountains, shootings and murder on the cops or whitey. All have been Black related. Cry wolf bitches, sorry your kids buys pot from them. Weird

  4. and yet the article says the pandemic, not the riots is the cause. Hmm... more fear-mongering for the geriatric-fucktard set? Yea, that's the ticket. Weird.

    1. And the biggest fucktard is you. Surprised you snuck out of Mommy’s basement to riot. Since your such a tough guy and you want to call everyone names on the post, tell us yours,
POS. If I’m in the area, which I never
plan on being, I’ll try to run as many of you little waste of flesh cunts over as I can. Would be hilarious to see a bunch of gutless wonders
like you running back home to your basement.

  6. Put a fork in the Plaza; it's done.

Soon there will be bars on all of the windows.

  7. It doesn't matter -- all unpleasant experiences are duly noted by the public. When they reach a certain level in a cumulative way, it's bye-bye to going to that part of town. The Plaza keeps reaching new highs for unpleasant experiences. Not a good thing for the prosperity of that area.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Why did those Biden voters take guns with them when they looted on the Plaza?

Oh because there never were any protests. Only DNC conventions. Errr riots, excuse me.

    ReplyDelete
  9. and yet it's the pandemic that's causing the loss of business and not the riots. There have been zero riots in the last month...Hmmm. I guess racist geriatric fucktards gonna be racist geriatric fucktards. Super weird.

    ReplyDelete

    1. No, it is called avoidance due to what was seen down there during the riots. Not racism. There is no reason to go down there when you go somewhere closer and not have to possibly deal with any crap.

Now, shut the fuck up bitch.

      Delete
  10. The decline is a result of a number of long-building factors, including a management group better suited to indoor malls, years of allowing "urban" youth to virtually shut it down after dark, riots that damage property and deter further investment, and an overall retail industry that is collapsing.

Nordstrom's will pull out soon and never complete their store, leaving a vacated street and a gaping hole in the plaza. Many of the remaining retailers will follow suit, with the eventual result being either the final push of homogeneous office / residential development that finally kills what made the plaza special or the slide some sort of discount mall (ala The Legends).

  11. Kansas City has become a very unpleasant place to visit or dine.

    Dirty, unwelcoming and unsafe.

The KC School District is a complete failure.

Maybe 20 years from now a statue of Mayor Quentin Lucas can be erected in the new Section 8 housing complex formerly known as the Plaza.

  12. I voted for Obama with hopes he would lead the country in a harmonious, united manner and encourage African Americans to focus on education, family, hard work and careers.

Sadly, as President, and even now he keeps dredging up the same old race-dividing rhetoric that just perpetuates the cycle of single-parent households, violence, crime and victim hood.

    1. That’s all the guy ever did. Worst President ever who left behind a legacy of ineptitude. A lot of people voted on emotion and although many may not like Trump’s personality, the guy is doing a good job, takes no BS.

The whole nation wanted police reform after George Floyd's death. But then Democrats rioted.

We were combating the virus until Democrats rioted.

You never know when these violent unstable democrats will block the street and pull you from your car, then when you hit them you will be charged not them. Best thing to do is keep them in the city and keep them out of the burbs and rural areas. Let the city officials be their next victims.

I was a server on the plaza. Even before the pandemic, there was a 50/50 chance that the diner wouldn't pay. I'd serve another table and turn around and the guests would just be gone. And when we started asking for security up front, they screamed racism. It just so happened that most of the guests who did it were black, but that's not racism - it's the truth.

You do know that you can be unmasked because your IP address is logged at the servers? All Byron has to do is hire an atty and subpoena the records. Then your publicly ID'd, sued, and your employer fires you.

You don't have to play nice, but at least don't play stupid, stupid.

  21. 9:20, a few problems with your analysis. Byron does not have the money to hire an attorney, and it is not likely that a decent attorney would take the case on contingency, not knowing who the defendant is and whether he could pay a judgment, and in view of the great amount of work that would be required. The IP address can tell which server the message came from, but not the user; that would require a lot of expensive discovery, which is another reason why no lawyer would take the case. The potential grounds for lawsuit you listed are not likely to prevail, especially reputation damage, which will not fly unless the person suing had a good reputation in the first place.

That said, I do wish that Tony would do a better job cleaning up the comments.

The Byrons are hilarious. The guy who calls everyone a CHUD is hilarious. The guy who calls everyone he disagrees with a "boomer" is hilarious. The "chimpy" thing I don't get, but he is a riot. The "Weird" guy his funny as hell. All of the Name/URL people are hilarious. The guy who makes up acronyms with MLK and BLM is hilarious. It's entertainment. But, since you are apparently some sort of super lawyer, report this blog to the FCC or BLM or the FBI, Karen.

  25. As an independent, I voted for Obama in hopes that he would get the economy humming along. Instead, he talked about how manufactuering would never come back to America and seemed more interested in grooming his face than helping the country. I'm glad I voted for Trump over Hildebeast because that man got the economy blazing more than nearly any president in history. He brought unemployment to record lows or close to record lows for blacks, Hispanics, women and many others. Not only that, but he doesn't believe in raising taxes on all of us like the Dems want to do to fund illegal immigrant healthcare and a lot of other crap we don't need.

12:23 Wins. Perfect post. As a young man, I worked with black folks from time to time, and enjoyed their company as fellow workers. The "N" word was never uttered in my home as I grew up. It still "bothers" me, but the minority of the minority it accurately defines are indeed "n-----s". Some of you may recall Jesse Jackson's remarks about walking down a street at night and hearing footsteps behind him. Turning, he said he was relieved to see a white man going his way. I don't enjoy becoming a racist, but when one looks at Chicago's mayor and folks like Jesse Smollett, Al Sharpton and the like, I now admit to being one.
