KANSAS CITY MAYOR QUINTON QUIETED AFTER SUFFERING FLIP-FLOPPER TAG FROM COALITION!!! HIS ADMINISTRATION IS ONE & DONE IF HE DOESN'T RESPOND!!!

This week Kansas City progressive leadership, protesters and establishment urban institutions united in opposition against a federal law enforcement crackdown. One of their most devastating complaints targeted Mayor Quinton Lucas for alleged double dealing. Since the news blast, the city hall leader has been suspiciously muted.

Remember the public shaming of Mayor Q on Tuesday:

"Will you continue to stand with Trump’s federal occupation, or will you stand with the people? With this letter the people have spoken—PICK A SIDE."

Until this proclamation the Mayor was enjoying the spotlight with several important cable news appearances culminating in a nationally featured conversation with Chris Wallace on Fox News.

Now . . .

The mayor's low profile is obvious as he slinks back to boring community-based promo work and brushes up on his Spanish.

However, TKC, 12th & Oak insiders and most among our blog community contend . . .

MAYOR Q CAN'T WITHSTAND THIS PUBLIC SMACK DOWN WITHOUT A RESPONSE!!! SILENCE SEEMS LIKE THE SMART MOVE BUT IT WILL ONLY EMBOLDEN CRITICS!!!

Already protesters and activists have established a foothold on locals streets with restlessness demonstrations . . . Granting them the last word expands their influence at 12th & Oak - A victory that is impressive and also unprecedented.

Insiders tell us that Mayor Q is crafting a comeback and it better be good . . . He's going to have to make a few people unhappy despite his efforts to perfectly toe the line for law enforcement &  demonstrators.

Now, attempting to appease both sides of this debate will only worsen the political push back that has surprisingly silenced Mayor Q.

Developing . . .

  1. Nope.

The mayor is doing the right thing. Keeping quiet and doing his job is the best thing he can do. Let the protesters play for the cameras, he has votes and they don't.

      that's the problem.

That's a reasonable response that might make sense but you're talking about a group that doesn't let logic stand in their way. If they win this round they'll never let the mayor forget it and he'll be nothing but their secretary.

    3. Of course he is working for the developers, don't you read TKC? The tax breaks and sweetheart deal are still flowing.

Q is working for rich Republicans who send their sycophantic TKC commenters to criticize him for paying lip service to the rights of the poor people.

    4. 736 is right about following the money. Argue all you want about race, rent, and who is right, all the while cash is flowing from the city coffers.

No doubt the rich republicans are playing the poor whites the same as the rich dems play the blacks. All the while, America's wealth flows uphill.

  4. Lucas has shown that he's nothing but a superficial speech-maker and media whore who sadly doesn't have an actual core of beliefs, appropriate priorities for city government, an ability to handle emergencies, or the guts to provide actual leadership instead of pandering to the current demands of the mob.
The emptiest of the many empty suits who have roamed the halls at 12th and Oak.
As out of control as all the "protesting" is and as poorly as the Covid 19 crisis has been handled, the financial situation KCMO is in hasn't even surfaced yet and that will have very severe short and long-term consequences.
And what passes for basic services like public safety and decent streets isn't even on the radar screen.
And that's what city government is actually all about.
    Sad.

  6. Quinton has a decision to make and It doesn’t even matter what’s right or wrong. The only factor in his decision is how it affects him politically.

  7. When he and the council chose to support the law breakers over normal society they chose a path they can’t get off of. Lucas decided to complain about policing and increased federal presence. Since LeGend started violent crime has plummeted and felons are being thrown in jail where they belong.

The problem is pandering to the loud left is that you can never give them enough. Once you agree to some of their demands you simply must continue to stay in their good graces. The mayor turned his back on the rest of the city and police officers. We all saw that and once the very small minority of loudmouths go away he find out that he will be all alone.

What was once called the silent majority has now found its voice and city hall should listen. Our voices will be heard, come Election Day there will be a reckoning.

  8. He has had numerous opportunities to stand up and lead. Unfortunately he has not done that and has aligned himself with negative and hateful groups and mindsets. He talks out of both sides of his mouth depending on who his audience is and is a proven liar. He's had his chance and has failed.

  9. Q is like a young parent hoping to end their child's fit by giving in and handing them a cookie. It takes a working moral compass and internal discipline to say "no" to petulant demands that are not in the best interest of the child. Q hoped to quell the protestors by agreeing to give in to demands not in their own best interest.

  10. Americans love and hate seeing leftists destroy their own community.

We love it because you prove we're right about policy.

We hate it because it takes the deaths of innocent people to do it.

But having no morals means that once you're done taking power through violence, you're coming for us. Americans may not be first against the wall, but we know you'll try to kill us.

    Democrats are so predictable.

I love it when the "demonic demonstrators" get all worked up and yell so loud and fast you can't understand a word they say. Then they demand "I want this, when do I want it? NOW! And if I don't get it I am going to hold my breath until I do". So, I am waiting. Start holding your breath. I'll wait while you pass out and still didn't get your way. Waiting..... SO, what are you going to do now? OH, move to Canada? Bye, don't let the screen door hit ya where the good lord split ya!.

  16. I guess the bandwagon supporters for Mayor Lucaus are turning on him. Who didn’t predict this before he was elected? I was never convinced that he was the best candidate for Mayor.

    ReplyDelete
  17. The problem is and was that he was the lesser of two bad candidates! Justus would have likely fared worse at the job. Still, voters in KC always vote democrat and always get the same results, voting one way or another at the federal level really doesn’t have N impact on our lives, but these local elections have a great impact and we must vote wisely, for the best candidate. Stop voting identity politics!

  18. He's dug himself into a hole he'll never be able to crawl out of. I had friends who despised Mayor James but now I have friends who are really pissed and hate Mayor Quinton. They are sick of his back pedaling on his campaign promises and irritate at his handling of the protesters while caving to their demands in writing all the while ignoring and not stepping up for the people who are the ones that keep this city afloat. Quinton has single handedly placed the straw on the camels back that will destroy what was left of the Plaza. When a town is so gone that good people avoid running for office in it who would do what is good for the majority of the people living in it and not just the minority of the residents it's clear to see that town is doomed. The decay will spread and the money will leave.

  31. Not even being interested in "governing" has never been an issue for judging electeds in KCMO.
And Lucas has shown no more ability or interest in performing the job of mayor as any of the others either currently or previously.
He'll likely be re-elected and continue his wishy washy, dishonest, and totally ineffective tenure for another six years.
And, since performance doesn't count for for local politicos either, he'll be designated a "rising star", ready to take his incompetence and self-absorption to brand new levels.
His predecessors in this performance are all around.
And residents/taxpayers in KCMO just keep doing the same thing year after year.
Like having a big "Kick Me" sign on their backs.
    Sad.
