  3. Does KC Casinos still bring in the shuttle vans of seniors to gamble from Nursing homes ? Same seniors with assistants holding their purses. Seniors that can't even hold their heads up. How criminal. Social security day becomes scamming of the elderly without ability to make rational decisions.

  4. The casino gets a subsidy, construction companies have some work, development lawyers get paid well and the politicians get campaign contributions. A win for all except the citizens who pay for it.

  5. You have to applaud Port KC's transparency. Its meeting document states the plan is to immediately start the "entitlement processes" with the city of Kansas City. Corporations in KC are entitled to public taxpayer funding of costs while keeping profits private. And the slick KC Economic Development Corporation will enter into phony leases that will allow all construction materials and equipment, furniture, fixtures to be bought sales tax free. This is all accomplished with the blessings of the Mayor and City Council.

  7. "...immediately start the "entitlement processes"

In this usage, the word "entitlement" refers to the required approvals to build (zoning, permitting, etc) and is the common way to refer to this. It has nothing to do with being entitled to any public funds, though I'm sure that's part of the plan.

Damn, stupid commenters abound this morning.
