New economic initiative asks shoppers to buy Black on Tuesday

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -- There's a new economic initiative happening Tuesday to help narrow the racial wealth gap. Across the nation, there's a big focus on equity and justice, and the Blackout Day 2020 initiative is an economic boycott. Organizers are asking people not to spend any money unless it's at a Black-owned business.

  2. That's racist and I will never by from black owned business because of this. Yet you people go out and blame whitey for being racist. This makes my blood boil you people are the ones causing division and yet you blame everyone else.
I agree with 8:31 Smash and grab or grab and run Tuesday is more like it.
Lets all start giving black people what they want. Don't support them and don't hire them, this thing can go both ways.

  5. It's called get a job, don't break the law, be an in-home parent to your children, be able to pay to raise your children instead of the government, love your family, judge people by the content of their character instead of color, etc. This kind of thing just divides us more. Dumb idea for many reasons.

Did you ever try to buy from a black owned business? If you're not black, you're not welcome. No thanks. I'll spend my money where the workers are polite, and they appreciate my money.

  8. So basically go to the "market" in the hood and buy all the shit they stole from Walgreens. Good plan.

  9. I earn my money and how and who I spend my money with at retail locations is my business. I don't care if you're Black, White or an Asian I will not bend to being told where I have to spend my money. Now tomorrow because some Blacks want to be bitches I just might make damn sure I spend no money at any business that hires Black people or is owned by such.

I'm so tired of hearing crap like this and seeing it in the media.

  10. Can anyone provide a list of Black-owned businesses where a White Person is both safe and welcome?

Shouldn't take much time to list them, there can't be that many.

    Thank you.

  11. How would anyone know whether a business is black owned or not? Typically all we see are employees, which gives us no hint of ownership.

I suppose all the blacks who work for white owned businesses are expendable.

  12. Tuesday sounds like a great day to shop at "white-owned" businesses.

Lateefa will be at the black owned business buying a weave so we won't have to listen to Lateefa's big mouth.

  13. So when is the buy Hispanic, Asian, Native American and other Indian day?

    Good one!

  15. The discussion here should be about why there are so few black owned businesses, not just supporting the few that are there. Owning businesses is empowering and should be a much higher priority in the black community.

  16. Friday is "Only Shop at Liechtensteiner American-Owned Businesses" Day. The only place in this category around here is a place that sells inflatable love dolls. I'm going to show my support, buy one and send it to the Mayor because he likes being on his knees in a variety of settings.

  17. When I need dreads, hair extensions, colt 45, pcp, crack, pot, air Jordan’s, black market guns and ammo, a caddy, Lincoln, Acura, Mercedes, Chrysler 300 or any product that contains gold I still won’t buy black they’ll shoot you after you pay for their shit. No normal person wants or needs their crap anyway.

  18. 11:54 research failed black businesses and get back with us ok. I was thinking I’m going to Bryant’s for a delicious beef sandwich tomorrow because it’s owned by whitey now, but hey, it’s the thought that counts amiright!

The racists are against it, so it's probably a good thing.

Attention Snowflakes (pun intended): You don't have to buy black if you don't want. This is mostly aimed at blacks, & asking them to not support white businesses when you could support black businesses, instead.

    Sort of like "Buy American".

  21. It's your dollar - make it go as far as it will go no matter the color of the business owners skin.

I've tried the "wouldn't you want a black man in the same trade as me to do the work for you instead of me {white}? Replies like I want it done right and you're here now. Quit wasting time and get to work. Yes, black potential customers.

Dollars mean more to some than others apparently. I'd pay a black business for something if I saw value in what I wanted. Gotta put yourself first sometimes.

  22. @2:00 - Black Tuesday sounds like a win-win for white businesses and their paying customers.

Can we make every day "black business" day?

    That would be awesome.

  23. Did Byron say something?

I see some gibberish shit that makes no sense so guessing maybe he did.

Heaven forbid don't ever speak the truth because Byron will find it racists.

The real racist around here is none other than Byron Funkhouser, King of the Welfare Scams

  25. When is Red skin Day ? Asian day ? Dirty skin look at these days? We only worry about certain groups. Until they support those days and White Business day, fuck them. I've never went into a business and request owners skin color or race an owner is. That would be Racism. Rather narrow minded support you have going on there.
