A local referendum on "cancel culture" is now headed to the LOCAL ballot.
Ironically, a great many elected officials and MSM pundits didn't want this up for a public vote but the Legislature rejected yet another effort from Team Frank that says more about his relationships inside the courthouse than anything about the current state of the culture war.
Take a look:
KMBC: Future of Jackson County's Andrew Jackson statues heading to the November ballot
Deets:
"County Legislator Jalen Anderson’s move to take down the Jackson statues now failed in a 3-6 vote. White said the county decision “lets legislators duck a tough vote.”
Followup remark and reporting from Fox4 . . .
“I really believe this is truly a body that doesn’t want to do what it’s been elected to do,” Executive Frank White said. “They don’t want to have criticism from the public. And when that comes, you want to push this off on the public.”
Developing . . .
I will vote to remove it.
ReplyDeleteGoodbye racist!
I'll vote to keep it just to cancel your vote :)
ReplyDeleteDoesn't matter because how many things have we voted against and nothing was done about it
ReplyDelete^^^ Excellent point. The vote in KC and Jackson County is often just a formality.
DeleteGood for the legislators for not giving Frank any money to take it down. Put it on the ballot and let us decide. Frank has got some nerve to call out the legislators for wanting to do things by a vote. Mr."I fucked up everybody's property taxes and refuse to do the right thing and fix it. "
ReplyDeleteIt's gone. Andrew Jackson had zero ties to this area.
ReplyDelete^^^ Another damn good call.
ReplyDeleteBut I don't know, the Lincoln statue across the street at City Hall could be next. He never visited KC.
Wrong. As a young lawyer in Illinois, Abe had occassion to visit Westport.
DeleteI’m waiting for:
ReplyDeleteTony’s
Kancel
Culture
to start demanding the removal of the Ewing Kauffman statue at the K, and the Lamar Hunt statue in front of Arrowhead.
I mean, those white dudes brought all that faggy fanboy entertainment to Kansas City, right?
After all, had those two men not wanted to have professional sports in Kansas City, we wouldn’t have the huge expensive taxpayer funded stadiums, all the controversy about the “Chiefs”, all the Johnson County “fanboys” that everyone here has brainless contempt for
- polluting the area with their faggy sports right?
Don’t forget, it was Lamar Hunt who was a driving force in bringing SOCCER to KC (Sporting); you know, that “3rd rate game that only gays watch”?
Yep, it’s definitely way past time to be demanding the removal of his statue at Arrowhead!!!!’
^^^ TKC isn't demanding anything, pretty sure Tony doesn't care about the statues one way or another. He said he liked the Chief's name.
ReplyDeleteYou seem confused. Maybe time to take a nice nap. When you wake up, there might be some soup!
Frank White sure hates Old Hickory.
ReplyDeleteFrank White does not seem to understand that he works for the people of Jackson County. It is not his plantation. We are not his slaves, and he is not our mass’. To hell with that tyrant.
ReplyDeleteWill the pinko children abide by the vote ?
ReplyDeleteI wish Kansas City could be it's own county and the rest of us could be Jackson County.
ReplyDeleteI’m voting to keep it. It’s a nice statue. It’s never done anything except be a lovely piece of art. Everyone is getting their panties in a twist about every little thing and it’s getting old.
ReplyDeleteWhen the Slave Power first tried to end the union Jackson threatened to march an army into South Carolina and hang its leadership. His victory at New Orleans gave our nation its first international victory after the British kicked our as in 1812-1813, and our national existence hung in the balance.
ReplyDeletethey need to change the name of the county.
ReplyDeleteKing County
ReplyDeleteFrank White County
ReplyDeleteFrank White went from a beloved KC Royal to the most hated man in Kansas City.
Only individual booed at the Chiefs Super Bowl parade.
That's what happens when you raise citizens property taxes by 25%.
Frank White didn't pay his own property taxes. Mike Sanders law firm did.
ReplyDeleteSo damn funny to see racist slave owner written across this statue, when these very people are so stupid they vote democrat. The people who to this day want slaves back. And what about William Johnson who was a black barber that owned slaves and was extremely mean to his slaves that were little kids. HA HA HA HA HA You people are so ignorant it's hysterical.
I bet Frank the Fool wouldn’t have a problem looking at Jackson if it was a stack of 20s to make his house payment.
ReplyDeleteA historian on PBS said it so well a week or two ago: "All these people upset about Andrew Jackson, are they living on land he got by driving out Native Americans?"
ReplyDeleteJackson is a fascinating person to read about, he killed a sitting congressman in front of the capital for calling his wife a whore. Jackson did lots of fucked up shit, my prediction is that this statue will be gone soon.
ReplyDeleteJust more reasons why we should keep it!
DeleteCounty is named after him. When will it be "protested" to change the name of the county?
ReplyDeleteWhat about changing the name of Lee's Summit?
