Marquee players aren't risking big money over pandemic politics and conflicting medical debate . . . Tell us if this is too cautious or the right move:

RB Williams is second Chiefs starter to opt out

The Kansas City Chiefs had a second starter from their Super Bowl LIV victory opt out because of coronavirus concerns, as running back Damien Williams informed team officials he would sit out the 2020 season.

Comments

  1. Could ruin his entire career if he caught it and recovered with damaged lungs. Call of the season now, thanks to BLM support BS many are already tuning out the NFL.

It's a privileged White man's game using the labor of black men to earn money for the owners. Never watched it - never will.

So you to go back to the 1950’s when football was majority white?

  6. Pondering how many will find the jail cell or 6 foot under during their idle time. Felon League has away of obtaining lots of trouble during the off season- which has just been extended.

  7. Since the Chiefs already drafted his replacement, he is in a lose-lose situation.

Hope he has a second career lined up!

Byron, we know you don't watch football. We don't give a shit either way.

  10. I was wondering how this Williams and first round draft pick Clyde Edwards-Helaire were going to be used in tandem. Now it's Clyde's golden opportunity to star.

  12. I don't understand how people in supermarkets can work but NFL plays in a protective environment don't want to work it's totally ridiculous they can hide behind saying they're doing it for the family but come on

  13. If he sits out a season, he’ll never play again. Missing a season, on this level, will hurt his chances of making it in the league again. Tough call but data doesn’t show people his age, in the shape he is in would keep him down for long if he did get it. We’ll miss him for sure.
