Fanboys Claim QB Patrick Mahomes 'Gave Up A Lot' For His Half Billion Dollar Deal

Reaction to this embarrassing financial arrangement has been mostly corporate subsidized hype. What's more interesting is undercurrent of skepticism and questions about the value of such a big money deal (tacitly financed by taxpayer subsidy) as so many Americans suffer economic hardship.

Here's sports "journalism" working to convince the public of the merits of football that now mostly resembles basketball with better uniforms . . .

Patrick Mahomes Gives Up a Lot in His 10-Year Extension

Shortly after news broke Monday about Patrick Mahomes's 10-year contract extension, lists started circulating on Twitter of other similar deals in NFL history. Of course that includes one I'm very familiar with, having handed out Brett Favre's contract in 2001.

  1. Mahomes deserves it. He's a terrific kid. Don't hate on him. Jealousy is a poor look for you Tony. Stop counting other people's money.

    1. ^^^ Actually, he's counting taxpayers money. This blog is the only place in KC that reminds taxpayers we're paying for it. Sorry if that upsets you but that's probably because you don't live inside city limits.

  2. I don't blame the kid for trying to get the most money out of football. His working life will be really short due to the game. Get it while it's there and then get the hell out before you end up with your brain scrambled.

  3. I 'll worry about what he gave up while I am not receiving any unemployment , but standing in the unemployment line for almost a year. Weird

  4. No one would mind if $250 million of property tax-payer funds were not used to renovate Arrowhead Stadium plus $5 million of tax-payer funds are given to the Chiefs for annual maintenance.

If the Chiefs can pay someone $450 million then they don't need a $250 million gift from taxpayers who are barely making enough money living paycheck to paycheck to pay their groceries and utilities.

The only economic benefit KC derives is Clark Hunt and his multi-millionaire players who don't live in Kansas City.

Have you seen any economic development by Hunt around Arrowhead Stadium during the last 50 years other than charging Chiefs fans $60 to park at the parking lots they paid for to begin with ?

  5. I live in the KC city limits and I'm happy for the kid. He deserves all of it. If you care about what someone else is making that's petty jealousy and envy. Be better than that. I know that's a lot to ask on this blog, but be a better human and mind your own business.

  7. This idiot is a disgrace to our community and the state of Missouri. He's a big mouth hypocrite and no better than Kaepernick. A real piece of scum! Watch to see if he helps his cause BLM or if he remains to be a homeland terrorists. I'll bet he will be the latter. BTW he looks like a little old man with cheap teeth. Can't stand this trouble maker.

  10. Seems to be injustice and inequality when you have taxpayers standing in the unemployment line due to no fault of their own so they have a meagre amount for their family.

However, the NFL Chiefs can pay Patrick Mahomes $450 million while demanding taxpayers renovate and maintain Arrowhead Stadium where Mahomes earns the $450 million.

Plus, the Chiefs and NFL, earn $billions off of television revenue, merchandise sales and ticket revenue/ parking / concessions.

  11. Mahommes is just the latest in a long string of players to benefit from the graft that team owners have gotten so good at extorting from cities. They hang the threat of moving over a taxpayer base afraid of losing a team they have an emotional attachment to, and the taxpayers vote to hand them more money. Don't blame the players, and dont even blame the owners, blame the taxpayers who continue to fall for the schemes.

  12. It doesn't seem there is ever a vote of the population on whether we give Clark Hunt $250 million in Arrowhead Stadium upgrades and $5 million a year in "maintenance".
