Demand For Social Justice Mostly Ignored In Downtown Kansas City P&L District

Vivid description but mostly apathy from party people in the face of protest . . . Take a peek at The Pitch trying to keep up with the real world:

Friday night's protests over police brutality and federal interference spilled into Power & Light

Protest spreading to Power & Light district. // Photo by Jim Nimmo Local photographer Jim Nimmo has been attending all the local protests to document them. We feel like his work is especially important in making sure that the community can see where the movement is headed, and to be there in case we need to catch possibly illegal action...

And mostly kids, but behaving more intelligently and maturly too.
The rolling "rationales" for the protests are becoming more and more ridiculous and the public has been tired of the silliness, inconvenience, and destruction for quite a while.
These folks are losing support for whatever their cause of the day might be the longer they amuse themselves.
    Tomorrow there'll be another "protest".
    Maybe because it's Wednesday.
    Irrelevant nonsense.

  5. Great now the Marxist Democrats want to destroy the Power and Light District.

Vote "No" to any Democrat during the November 2020 election.

Support law and order, lower taxes, and safety for your families by voting "NO" against the Democrats.

  6. ^^Wrong. Democrats are the country's last hope. That's why the blue tsunami is coming in November to clean the country of the red filth that has made us such a shithole third-world country.

  7. ^ the only shit-holes in our beloved USA are the Marxist Democrat controlled cities like Chicago, Baltimore, St Louis and KC.

Dude, you are embarrassing yourself getting knocked out by everyone else on the blog. Go back to Grandma's basement and suck your thumb.

  8. I've seen them protestors roll thru P&L several times. No window smashing. No looting. Just marching with slogans and signs. I didn't see vandalism, but it has occurred twice that I know of. Police are present but restrained and professional. I've seen Shaw twice, not leading, usually at the back of the crowd.

Mostly white youth. Some street congestion, respectful. Way different than the plaza confrontations.

When they get to their destination the leaders are up front with megaphones giving some talks and facing the crowd. Shaw is hanging out in back of the crowd chatting and listening.

For me, this is democracy in action. Peaceful citizens expressing their will. The way it should be.

  9. ^^and it scares the hell out of the Boomers who have managed to stand for nothing their whole miserable lives.

Actually, that's not at all what democracy looks like.
Governing is hard work and takes lots of effort to learn enough about issues, involve a wide range of people with different points of view, try to consider the consequences and unintended possibilities of whatever action might be taken, get enough votes from elected officials to pass a statute or ordinance, provide direction and oversight of the implementation of the law, and hold people accountable.
Protesting is doing NONE of the above and simply marching around shouting, taking selfies, hoping for the local TV "reporters" to arrive, and making demands.
It's quick and easy and effortless.
    And produces nothing of consequence.

  14. @1026. Part of the speeches they get say just that...now you need to show up at council meetings and city hall. I will listen closer next time. The protests have helped accomplish some stuff like limited outside review of KCPD, increased citizen awareness, change in policing tactics.

The progessive perspective of change is what you are espousing. There is also the revolutionary perspective which pursues rapid change by overthrowing heirarchy. I doubt they will reach that critical mass.
