COUNCIL LADY MELISSA ROBINSON ALLEGES RACISM YET AGAIN WITH HELP FROM KANSAS CITY STAR!!!
3rd District Council Lady Melissa Robinson is full . . . Of bad ideas.
She's one of the most vocal legislative voices of the defund the police local control movement. She has tirelessly advocated for more cash in service of the 18th & Vine District without any plan for financial oversight. And, she recently championed a mandatory "implicit bias" training for City Hall that has caused a massive eye-roll among nearly every denizen of 12th & Oak.
And speaking of offensive gestures . . .
Once again Council Lady Robinson plays the "race card" in defense of her agenda and in response to a rebuke from Northland Council Lady Teresa Loar.
A wordy and capricious op/ed from the newspaper attempts to spin the confrontation and sell it to subscribers. We quote the material in the name of fair use and because information wants to be free . .
"First, Loar implied that City Councilwoman Melissa Robinson could not possibly have written her own remarks on the subject of whether or not to privatize the city’s animal control operation. “That was a very nice speech someone wrote you, Miss Robinson,” Loar said during the public discussion. “My guess it’s labor somewhere.”
"Robinson, who is Black, responded to her white colleague this way: “Let me address you addressing my intellect. I have an MBA; I don’t need anybody to write a word for me.”
Fact check . . .
NOBODY SAID ANYTHING ABOUT HER INTELLECT, BASICALLY SAID THE COUNCIL LADY WAS GETTING WORKED LIKE A ROOKIE POLITICO PUPPET!!! IT'S COUNCIL LADY'S ETHICS THAT WERE ATTACKED AND THAT'S FAIR GAME!!!
It gets worse . . .
"Then, Loar appeared to mock Robinson physically, with a neck roll and shimmy that Robinson and others who saw it read as overtly racial."
Again, another fact check is required . . .
TRUST TKC: NEARLY ALL AMERICAN WOMEN SWIVEL THEIR NECK WHEN ANGRY!!! THIS BASEMENT BLOGGER HAS FRUSTRATED MORE THAN ENOUGH LADIES OF EVERY DEMOGRAPHIC TO KNOW THIS FOR A FACT!!!
Thankfully, in the end we think Council Lady Loar brings a great deal of wisdom to the situation and is unafraid to address the issue at hand in a forthright matter . . .
‘This is bothering her more than it’s bothering me.’ She’s young, she’s new. All I asked her was who wrote that. I would have said that to anybody . . . Oh for God’s sake,” she said. “Everything with Melissa is racial.”
However, it's not Council Lady Robinson who is solely at fault. She is clearly a brilliant and promising legislator with a bright future but a local institution has done her and the community a disservice by attempting to capitalize on petty culture war rhetoric.
Accordingly . . .
SHAME ON THE KANSAS CITY STAR FOR EXPLOITING ACCUSATIONS OF RACISM IN SUPPORT OF POLITICAL POSTURING AND ASCRIBING HATEFUL MOTIVES TO NEARLY UNIVERSAL GESTURE!!!
The Star attempts to enable Council Lady Robinson for a petty column rather than explaining to the young politico that she can't cry wolf every time her feelings are hurt. Politics is a rough business and the new 3rd District representative would do well to understand that her constituents are unlikely to believe that racism is the answer to every single problem in their district that has also been plagued by gross financial mismanagement and myopic development strategies.
Yes, racism remains a problem but the challenges confronted by the 3rd District are complex and deserving of multifaceted solutions. Council Lady Robinson touts her education but so far she has yet to demonstrate any significant level of legislative skill and simply relies on repeating accusations of racism whenever she is challenged. The accusations leveled with help from local dead-tree media are not only an insult to readers but also a disservice to 3rd District residents who deserve more thoughtful and productive representation.
