WESPORT HONCHO BILL NIGRO EXCLAIMS: 'EVERYONE'S LIVES MATTER!' AS HE SALUTES KANSAS CITY GOOD COPS!!!

An interesting note sent our way shares a longtime local perspective on the work of police in one of Kansas City's most popular entertainment districts.

Checkit:

Westport Leader Bill Nigro: Good Cops HATE Bad Cops!

George Floyd didn't deserve to die and the policeman who did it needs a speedy trial and go to jail for what he did. He also made it harder for every good cop to safely do his job to protect us.

Everyone's lives matter!

As a small business operator in Westport for over 40 years, I have worked with every police chief and sheriff going back to 1978. I've worked with hundreds of policemen over the years and I've met the good and the bad. My neighborhood and I have felt the wrath of bad people at the top of KCPD and the Sheriff's office. The good ol boy system reigned for a long time. For me it was a love/hate relationship with KcPd for years.

Sheriff Darryl Forte ushered in a new era for the KCPD. I thought we couldn't get a better guy at the top. Honesty, integrity, dedication to KC's safety and strong Christian values. Then Chief Rick Smith was appointed. He worked off duty in Westport in the early 90''s. He's worked in homicide. He's one of the few guys that I know is Forte's equal. Never has there been a better team for KC and Jackson County! The culture is changing with these 2 men. Losing either is a big loss for KC!

I worry about local control of KCPD when I see a city council approve a budget for next year in the middle of the virus that's totally unrealistic in lieu of the huge loss of sales tax and earnings tax. The closings of businesses because of the corona virus will leave KC's budget crippled. Putting Police pensions in jeopardy isn't a better way to build morale. I question KC's ability to manage what's on their plate now.

THANK YOU Sheriff Forte and Chief Smith, You'll both always have my vote. Please stay with our town and county! I know from experience that we need you.

Cheers/Salute Bill Nigro

    1. Politically I might disagree but the basics of his writing are correct. What I like about this "note" or e-mail sent to TKC is that is shows us the cops are part of OUR community, not some occupying force. These are people who work and live in our city too.

    2. @8:22.

That's the point. The people who work and build things in KC aren't out there hating the cops, it's people who aren't even from here are just want to trash our city. Important distinction.

  2. ^^^

    WRONG.

The peaceful protesters want to make KC better for everyone living here, not just the people who own and developer the buildings.

  3. Yes everyone's life matters and BLM need to get over their racist little crime mob. Does anyone really think that cop intended to kill George Floyd knowing he would be up for murder? I don't think so.

In 2019 police officers fatally shot 1,004 people, most of whom were armed or otherwise dangerous.
African-Americans were about a quarter of those killed by cops last year (235), a ratio that has remained stable since 2015. That share of black victims is less than what the black crime rate would predict, since police shootings are a function of how often officers encounter armed and violent suspects. In 2018, the latest year for which such data have been published, African-Americans made up 53% of known homicide offenders in the U.S. and commit about 60% of robberies, though they are 13% of the population.
The police fatally shot nine unarmed blacks and 19 unarmed whites in 2019. Those nine unarmed black victims of police shootings represent 0.1% of all African-Americans killed in 2019.
In 2018 there were 7,407 black homicide victims.
A police officer is 18½ times more likely to be killed by a black male than an unarmed black male is to be killed by a police officer.”

  7. ^^ Yes, but it is never deemed Racist by the media or the black community when a Black kills a non black. Weird

  8. Let me know when to head to the Plaza to protest the black extremist, Antoine Fielder, who shot and killed two white sheriff's deputies in Wyandotte County while being transferred to prison in 2018. When will the racism stop? Rest in Heaven, Deputies Theresa King and Patrick Rohrer.

  11. Is Bill Nigro the guy who serves stale Old Style beer at Kelly's. Never understood the crowds at Kelly's. Fat, ugly girls who smelled like Old Style beer farts.

  12. Not everyone commenting here is interested in truth -- they have tunnel vision. I believe justice ought to be swift and commensurate with the crime. No matter who Law Enforcement/Non-Law Enforcement I am all for PEACEFUL protests, but they (non-Peaceful) lost me when THEY got violent, hurting innocent people and destroying the property of others. Then they are merely roving gangs of Storm Troopers. I must admit that when I was the American flag set on fire and the Hammer and Sickle spay painted on building I became convinced the perpetrators need to be prosecuted and spend time in jail.
