Transit Activist Clay Chastain Fights Against 'Segregated' Kansas City Theory

In the interest of equal time and local interest, we double back to pick up this recent message from longtime petitioner Clay Chastain.

He develops an interesting premise that might speak to many local denizens who care more about civic issues than culture war . . . Checkit:

Presser: KC's segregated transit system (streetcars for whites / diesel buses for blacks) must go and be replaced by Clay Chastain's revolutionary green transit system for all

Mayor Lucas and Congressman Cleaver are pushing an archaic transit system (streetcars) that only benefit white tourists and white developers. Meanwhile, City Hall is denying the people a vote on Clay Chastain's valid petition that would improve public transportation for everybody. City Hall and Cleaver seek federal funding to expand the City's obsolete streetcar system from downtown (where mostly whites live and white tourists visit) to the Plaza (where mostly whites live and white tourists visit). Very few black people, or other minorities, ride Kansas City's streetcar system. Instead, blacks are, in effect, separated onto smoking, noisy and stigmatized diesel buses. Hence, Kansas City's transit system is a segregated transit system. Shame on Cleaver and Lucas for seeking $200 million in federal funding to expand a segregated streetcar system (that does not even improve transit times), while denying the people a vote on Clay's modern, green and integrated transit system (rapid, citywide and electrified).

Fightin' Clay will expand his fight (to improve Kansas City) to Washington and fight for the issues that matter most to Americans: Forging a strong sustainable economy, improving health care for all, drastically reducing homicides in our inner cities, keeping taxes low for the middle class, securing our borders, fixing and modernizing infrastructure, winding down America's involvement in foreign conflicts, assuring racial equality and protecting the environment and the unborn.

  3. Clay do make some good points here rather you like him or not. I have noticed all who seem to hate him never notice that a lot of the time Clay is dead on with the truth as he is here.

  8. Regardless of what you think of Clay Chastain, he's right about this. White people in Kansas City think that buses are for poor people or people of color while the streetcar is for them. It's totally segregated. You don't see this in other cities where every demographic ride the city buses.

Why would a White person want to be within 20 miles of Blacks ? Segregation is sane and saves Blacks the shame that comes from realizing that they are pretty much talking monkeys in comparison to literally everyone else, especially Whites. Every chimp-out in every city is an angry manifestation of that shame.
