TKC TOLD YOU SO!!! KANSAS CITY BLACK CLERGY REJECT MLK RENAME PLAN FOR J.C. NICHOLS PARKWAY & FOUNTAIN!!!

In reality, there's a broad diversity of opinion about this issue throughout Kansas City and this issue if far more complex than polarizing Internets chatter talking points.

To wit and just as we predicted . . .

THE REVS WANT THE PASEO AS MLK BLVD AND THEY'RE POLITICALLY DESTROY ANY POLITICO WHO OFFERS LESS!!!

Don't believe TKC?

Northeast leaders thought they were starting a political grassroots renaissance when they temporarily flipped MLK BLVD back to The Paseo . . . But a 10-minute interview betwixt Congressman Cleaver & Al Sharpton basically destroyed any credibility they had built and decimated their political prospects in KC Proper. Sure, they might have social media love and a sense of pride . . . But they'll never get people to go on record with a campaign donation -- Which essentially makes them powerless.

Here's today's update that was inevitable and confirms the continued political slap fighting over a fountain . . .

KSHB: Some leaders in KC’s black community oppose plan to rename JC Nichols Parkway for King

Deets:

“While renaming J.C. Nichols Parkway could make a statement about this generation’s regret of the society’s past wrongs, naming it after Dr. King is not appropriate,” SCLC of Greater KC President Dr. Vernon Percy Howard, Jr. said in a statement. “The potential renaming of this miniscule Parkway does not arise to such principled standards of freedom and justice for Black life.”

“Most Black children would never see and be inspired by Dr. King’s name in that location as young Blacks are socially unwelcome on the Country Club Plaza, as attested to by historical curfews banning their presence,” Howard said.

“J.C. Nichols Parkway has not been an enrichment to Black business and entrepreneurship in any significant way,” Howard said. “Simultaneously, mainly white businesses on the Plaza have profited from Black consumer spending while Black businesses in the urban core and elsewhere suffer from a lack of white consumer dollars contributing entrepreneurial inequity, stagnant Black business growth, and Black business failure.”

    1. ^^^ Absolutely.

The community has been silent for too long.

The Plaza has it's own problems. MLK can't solve them because he didn't start them. This is for the corporation who owns it to figure out.

    2. Black Lives Matter Parkway has a really nice ring to it.

Sly James Fountain sitting pretty right in the middle of it.

      There is your solution bitches.

    3. Excellent! And include all of Broadway and Wornall too. But no Sly fountain, his stupid polluting airport and give aways will bankrupt the city.

  5. “Dr.” Vernon Percy Howard can’t have it both ways. Either blacks are not welcome at the Plaza or they are spending their dollars there. Which is it?

Also, the City’s curfews do not apply to a specific race, you idiot Vernon Howard. They impacted several entertainment districts and age was the discerning factor, not race.

A few black revs want their churches on MLK Blvd. people living on The Paseo don’t want the name changed. That battle has been fought and the revs lost. Better grab Nichols Pkwy while it’s up for grabs.

  6. Rename the city MLKC and show the world that MLKC is the most progressive place on the earth. Then pass a law that all whites must take a knee or bow whenever passing an MLK foutain or statue also pay a daily 10 dollar fine for being white in MLKC. Any white people flying into MLKC must wait to get on planes until all blacks have boarded and sat and all whites must only sit in the back of the plane.

  7. Paseo has already a subject which has been decided. This guy needs to be audited by the IRS.

  8. Vernon Howard is not our Black leader. No such beast. KSHB perpetuates White supremacy by suggesting he is. He is a pastor but all Black people do not worship the same religion or God as this man. Paseo and JC Nichols is less than a mile apart... what does he mean that Black children wont see it? Who is the racist now? Plenty of Black people frequent the Plaza. What rock is he living under? He doesnt speak for Black Kansas City.

  9. Nothing is ever "decided" in a Democracy.

The public always has a say and our elected officials are empowered to carry out the will of the voters.

    Change the Paseo to MLK.

    The Paseo is not needed.

    1. ^^ Not only is The Paseo needed it is PREFERRED! The people voted and Paseo won. Deal with it.

  10. We voted and you lost! If you think you must have the Paseo then call for another vote! That’s what KC does, keep voting until you get what you want, sickening!

    ReplyDelete
  11. Changing the name of The Paseo is res judicata. The people voted and the City has yet to reinstall signs marking the restoration. Howard should keep quiet. Accept defeat and stop calling people racist for wanting to restore the name. The City council had no right to do what it did and the people confirmed, by overwhelming majority, that the name should and would be restored. Wanna be mad - be mad at Jermaine Reed and Quinton Lucas for not openly stating their limitations in accomplishing things like this. They should have told Howard that they were elected by the people and that the people tell them what to do... not the other way around. MLK will be honored on the Plaza. As a community aervant, you can bus people to that location if you want to inspire people but making demands that go against the peoples wishes isnt going to be fruitful. Choose another battle... quietly.

  12. When will whites get sick of the tail wagging the dog?

  13. Do the curfews on the Plaza only apply to black teenagers? Now that would be racist.

    1. Yes, it would be racist. It would also be a wise decision.

There will be another vote. Paseo will lose. Sorry. It's not your neighborhood, you don't live there.

    1. Actually, I do live there, and I have family that does as well. Ms Canady got it right. We were not asked the first time. The council bowed to the preachers. Well THEY don’t live there. It will remain The Paseo. It’s our neighborhood.

  17. I like how Reverend Ron Howard states that urban black businesses do no receive white business.

Well it is like this reverend. I drive to 31st and Prospect. My wheels or car will be gone when I return from shopping; that is if I do safely return and am not assaulted or killed during my shopping spree because I am white. Funny, how white people welcome blacks to their neighborhoods and shops without assaults or murder but it doesn't work the other way around.

Oh, silly me, reality does not align with the fake narrative we are fed daily by the media, NFL, and Hollywood celebrities.

How about renaming a chunk (or all of) a street that runs near 18th&Vine to MLK?

    ReplyDelete
  19. KCMO has a 42 acre MLK park along Cleaver Blvd. That is 1,829,520 square feet. It was originally known as Brush Creek park and the name change was first proposed by Emanuel Cleaver in 1976.
The park is in terrible condition as KCMO does not maintain the park.
The city could erect an MLK statute, on the bank of Brush Creek, which would be visible to anyone entering the park. Also install a restroom facility in the park as well as clean it up.
The park would serve as a central gathering space for all of the prayer vigils and balloon releases.

  20. Children have to be told things over and over before the dumbest of them catch on. No means no, we have much more important things to do besides rename things. So stupid.

    ReplyDelete
  21. The only street that could be renamed and please everyone is Emanuel Cleaver II Boulevard.

  22. I hear a group We are the World coming. The Second coming of ME2 is here. Masterson is the first liberal star thrown under the bus. What ever happened to Joe Biden and the Woman scandal ?

  23. Changing Clever Cleaver Blvd. to MLK Blvd. could get by without pissing too many people off. They could change it back to Van Brunt but he was probably a slave owner.

    ReplyDelete
  24. 3:24 is spot on. If the blacks aren’t welcome on the Plaza then why are they spending their money there? What’s more, if this fool “Dr” Howard would admit the fact that the majority of black kids act feral on the Plaza (and elsewhere), it’s no mystery why they’re unwelcome anywhere civilized people gather.

    ReplyDelete
  25. The cleave and the fat fake revs are fighting for the Paseo because guess who’s church is on the Paseo? Yup, the cleaves, this is for him and no one else.

    ReplyDelete
  26. These men who call themselves men of God do more to destroy this community than the criminals that kill people. Their goal is not the greater good or to spread the word of God it is to sew seeds of divisiveness between men and women of all races. They could not care less about how to bring people together as much as how do we get our cut. When they open their mouths more of the goodness of the people of Kansas City dies. And Cleaver is one of the worst. He is homophobic at a city council meeting he spoke of the gay community when he said "It's not Bob and Susie, its Bob and Steve" (something close to that).

    ReplyDelete
  27. Granted I've not read all the comments that have been written but, instead of renaming some street, parkway, or boulevard, why not find the money to build our own "Plaza" on our street, that has Black and White businesses, therefore being the "bigger" person(s) taking that first step towards equality.
