This urban core paper offers a scathing critique of the political discourse after more than a week of protest and rioting.
Here's their money line . . .
"A protracted attempt by the mayor and the county prosecutor to co-opt and second guess the police department with new paradigms and policies has sent a clear message to rioters and protestors that it’s okay to break the law and to the police department that the city and prosecutor don’t have their backs."
Check their post in its entirety . . . And witness the only semblance of violent protest push back we're seeing among local publications.
You decide . . .
great editorial. It's about time!
ReplyDeleteWhat if officers started their own protests against the city. Quit working off duty at all city owned locations and all businesses who didn’t support police. Imagine a month of no one signing up to work power and light or sprint. Your down time is your own.
ReplyDeleteHow about if the police start riots by attacking peaceful protesters who are exercising their 1st amendment rights? That would make everyone fall in love with officer friendly.
DeleteSupport cops
DeleteThe only honest editorial since this whole mess started . . . too bad most people will never see it.
ReplyDeleteThe entire police force needs to pull a "Blue Flu." Give the rioters what they want . . . no cops.
The city's management will be begging them to come back after a single night of total lawlessness
Jean Petersucker Baker doesn’t want to prosecute murder, rape or robbery either. She does enthusiastically prosecute cops.
ReplyDeleteTHANK GOD FOR POLICE AND FIRE AND EVERYONE THATS AGAINST GOV UNIONS IF YOU HAD TO DEAL CONTRACTS WITH THESE CRIMINAL POLITICAL ELITES YOU WOULD ALL HAVE UNIONS.
ReplyDeleteWhen did these guys every have their backs? No point in arresting somebody for a property crime or even a non-lethal shooting. They won't be prosecuted in Jackson County, and these criminals know it. Have you ever had a police officer talk you out of filing a theft or break in? I have. He told me that nothing was going to happen to the guy I found breaking into my car. I would lose pay taking time from work to show up in court with no results anyway. They knew about him. He had a record with dozens of incidents, but so what.
ReplyDeleteLocal control? So what! If there are no consequences, what does it matter?
It shouldn't be surprising that a common sense thoughtful editorial about the importance of the police and safe neighborhoods is coming from the Northeast News.
ReplyDeleteThey live in a part of the city that suffers from chaos, violence, and homicides as a regular part of life and they know that a reduced police presence in the community would only lead to more loss and heartache.
It's too bad what passes for an editorial board at the Star long ago abandoned intelligent, well-informed, thoughtful opinion for ideology and a narrative that moves in only one direction regardless of the facts.
The "activists" are about to discover that their "demands" will not actually be met by the over-promising KCMO electeds and they'll have yet another excuse to hit the streets.
Which is about all they know how to do.
"We want change" isn't exactly a policy prescription.
When a city has a weak dick stupid mayor like Kansas Cuty does and a worthless, unskilled prosecutor like Petersucker, high crime rates are the result.
ReplyDeleteWINNER!
ReplyDeleteIn the category "Best Social Commentary" from a local newspaper, the winner is NORTHEAST NEWS for "A Department Gutted" by Michael Bushnell.
Excerpt: "The parallels between the current situation in Kansas City and the VietNam war are stark. Like Congress during the VietNam era, City Hall and the county prosecutor have taken the decision-making ability away from the police officers and supervisors on the front lines, and moved it squarely into the center of the political arena during an election year. And just like VietNam, those protracted political decisions will make citizens less safe and ultimately cost lives."
5:45 she enthusiastically goes after whites and now Mexicans, she just sent a 17 year old Mexican kid to jail for 17 years for killing one and wounding two other people, if that guy was a kolored she’d pat him on the back and give him probation. She’s that stupid and worthless.
ReplyDelete^^^As head of the state Democratic Party, she's got to do whatever it takes to secure the black vote for the Party. If that conflicts with her duty to keep the city safe, too bad. The vote is more important than the citizens.
ReplyDeleteThe police don't show up. No good reason to keep paying for something if you aren't getting what you are paying for.
ReplyDeleteAS above, This is how your tax dollars are being used. Satisfied? Maybe pay more if you approve of this crap? And don't forget the water rates.
ReplyDelete9:48 True, but Petersucker was a worthless prosecutor way before she was head of the state Democratic Party.
ReplyDeleteEight percent of the people living in Kansas CITY are sharp and know what is going on, The other twenty percent is destroying the City. Look there is 2 million in the Metro area .and a few thousand showed up for protest. Many from other parts of the Metro area. Half of those people that protested, have some kind of mental problem's, Listen to them in an interview .
ReplyDeleteThe organizers know if there are 20 percent not playing with a full deck. And those are the ones they target.
ReplyDelete8 % and 20% is 28%. New math or a failed secondary education?
ReplyDeleteIf you think the Police are being hard on the thugs, let the vigilante system take over. you let us country boys come up and take care of this shit and they will be begging for the Police to come back. Your choice snowflakes....
ReplyDelete^^Herp derp...duh. defund...a...a......means....like...a...a..a...no more police n stuff...duh...ugh...snowflakes.herp derp.
ReplyDelete"she just sent a 17 year old Mexican kid to jail for 17 years for killing one and wounding two other people"
ReplyDeleteAnd he should have gone for murder. Do you think not?
