SHOCK!!! KANSAS CITY ACTIVISTS AND FAITH COMMUNITY LEADERS DEMAND RESIGNATION OF POLICE CHIEF SMITH!!!
Sadly, it seems that a "unity march" scheduled for this afternoon might not help to resolve a political vendetta targeting Kansas City's top cop.
Here's an inevitability and the start of a grassroots movement against local authorities after critics question police tactics during recent #BlackLivesMatter protest on the County Club Plaza that started peacefully but ended with a KCPD cruiser burned, police officers pelted with water bottles, businesses robbed and looted whilst shops REMAIN CLOSED for five days . . .
KCTV5: Urban League of Kansas City, NAACP local chapter, MORE2 call for resignation of KCPD Chief
KCPD: Groups call for local control of KCPD, chief's resignation
Fox4: Dozens of urban clergy demand changes for KCPD
KMBC: 3 groups call for KC police chief to resign or be fired
"The group said in the conference that Chief Smith lacks competency and compassion. They went on to highlight that the department is not turning over probable cause statements and therefore make it difficult for Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker to hold officers accountable."
Over the past few days there has been an avalanche of criticism targeting KCPD Chief Smith via social media . . . So far the Kansas City Star is the only local news outlet to sign onto the opprobrium via editorial hidden behind their paywall.
Make no mistake, if the Chief is ousted: So-called "local control" for KCPD would be an inevitability in accordance with activist and urban demands.
