18th and Vine establishments react to Saturday shooting

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A shooting in the 18th and Vine District left one man dead and four others injured on Saturday morning. For Christopher Nickens, who works at 180V Barber Shop and Salon, the news was frustrating. "Sad man, hopefully this isn't what it's come to ultimately," he said.

  1. Yeah, BLM. So sad that they believe it but they are the perpetrators. Prove me wrong.

  2. Why don’t they just shut the place down for good, it’s been nothing but a gigantic drain of taxpayer money, hey wait a minute, close it down and save the money for the budget shortfall, nothing but trouble since they started letting questionable events take place there.

  3. Oh no, does this signal the end of the big jazz resurgence?

Where are folks going to go now to get their fix of Mingus and Coltrane?

  4. Where will Jermaine go to drink if the Blue Room closes??!! No one else lets him run an open, unpaid tab for months.

  5. I live in a small town of about two hundred. There’s probably three times that many guns here and not one in the last twenty years has anyone shot anybody

Maybe it’s time we all admit that the problem isn’t guns

  6. This is a clear example of why black lives don’t matter. When a white girl was killed in crossroads, the police flooded the area with resources to make the area safer. When the Brookside area lawyer was killed, toms of police resources were again used to make arrest. There is no same response by police in black areas. When black lives matter, then all lives will matter.

  7. Black lives don't matter to blacks with their wholesale slaughter of each other on a daily basis in shithole cities nationwide. A white cop kills a black criminal and the BLM loses their FN minds. Kill each other at the rate of about 500 a month, don't matter. It's not even acknowledged. Gets to the point the rest us don't give a squat either. Defund the police??? This is the mentality we are dealing with. SMFH.

  8. BLM Blame the cops and don't forget to riot I'm sure you will find something to riot about!

  9. Nine unarmed black men shot by a white police officer, while 20 unarmed white men were shot in the U.S. in 2019. Unarmed doesn't necessarily mean they weren't trying to take the officer's gun, or choke or beat them, so these figures might be skewed a bit. Yet, contrast those figures with about 7,000 black men killed in the U.S. by other black men. One category of deaths brings a lot of money to the NACCP, BLM and other groups when it occurs, and the other category doesn't.

  10. I oppose shutting down the 18th & Vine District!
In fact, I want City Ordinances passed that require all Establishments that are licensed to serve liquor in KCMO be required to close their doors at midnight, EXCEPT for those located in the Jazz District, where they are allowed to stay open until 6:00 am!

This will concentrate the sewer scum into a smaller area each night and allow the Coroner's Office to send dump trucks through that small area at 6:30 every morning to pick up the garbage lying in the streets.

  11. Have to admit this country would be much, much better off if all blacks disappeared over night. Argue against that you freaking idiots. A fact you cannot dispute.

  13. So there is a need for systemic change. It starts in the black community and BLM. IF Black Lives Matter is a fact then it need to change within the black community. IF you own something, a new car say, and you don't ever wash it or shine the wheels or clean the glass or drive it in such a way you get dings and dents in it the question becomes "Does this new car mean anything to you?". Well you say yeah it does but actions speak louder than words. The truth is that you do not value that new car. If you allow murder in your community and yell to de-fund police services your community does not matter to you. When you won't help police solve murders or you won't keep your yard and home clean and painted and grass cut, you do not value yourself or your neighbor. Clean up our own act because riots and destruction and looting tell the world you don't think what you yell for, it is all for show and free shit.
