Here's an important glimpse at NUMBERS AND FACTS amid discussions that are mostly focused on political rhetoric and election season campaigning. Checkit:
KCPD releases number of complaints filed against officers
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - During a Kansas City, Missouri, city council meeting, the number of complaints filed against KCPD officers was brought to attention. The numbers were requested by a city council member, Ryana Parks-Shaw, who questioned Cpt. John Simons with KCPD on what is being done to hold some of those officers accountable.
KCPD is not sharing data they were forced to give it up.

ReplyDeleteKCPD needs to walk off of their job and let the city have their community policing. They do not respect what our police do everyday and our police and their families are way more important than the thugs on the street. They don't get paid enough and put their lives at risk everyday. Let the thugs have the streets and let Quinton Lucas deal with the crime since he was out kneeling and not taking responsibility for the criminals that robbed the stores in the name of George Floyd. Let Quinton Lucas and his thugs destroy their selves. I hope that all police officers think about this. They killed David Dorn among many other cops in cold blood.
Wow more actions like a gang from the boys in blue, doing their best to keep the blue wall of silence like a real gang not snitching.
ReplyDeleteThe "data" that community "activists" should be demanding are the names of the killers roaming the neighborhoods of the east side and who have already racked up 90 homicides so far this year.
ReplyDeleteA bunch of low-information "leader" wannabees "analyzing data trying to find some support for their narrative of police defunding and dumping more money into their worthless anti-crime nonprofits and "social programs" are the last people the public should pay any attention to.
You would think that these folks would be doing everything they could to cooperate with the cops to make their neighborhoods safer.
And year after year, you would be wrong.
The problem is that the council members asked the wrong question, which put their lack of knowledge on full display for everyone to see. The question they asked was what are we doing to hold officers with 10+ complaints accountable. As Simons explained, or tried to explain, having 10+ complaints doesn’t necessarily indicate an officer has done anything wrong, violated any policies or used excessive force. The question they should have asked is what is being done to hold the officer with substantiated complaints accountable. In other words, what are we doing to hold officers who violate policies and/or use excessive force accountable. That’s the REAL question the elected official should be asking, and demanding answers from KCPD commanders about. Our elected officials should do a better job of educating themselves on KCPD procedures before they open their mouths and expose their complete lack of understanding.
ReplyDeleteSomeone should also give Councilwoman Parks-Shaw a math lesson. Kudos to Councilwoman Hall for attempting to correct Park-Shaw’s misunderstanding of percentages. Park-Shaw kept saying 3% of cops having multiple complaints was problematic. Hall attempted to correct her math and point out that the correct number was .03%. For those of you that are KCPS graduates, .03% is LESS THAN 1%!!!
ReplyDeleteAlso, Mayor Lucas, that Park-Shaw has a misunderstanding of math doesn’t make her mistaken belief reality. So, you shouldn’t be defending her opinions based on inaccurate, misunderstanding of reality. As elected officials, you have an obligation to get it right so your misunderstanding/misperception doesn’t become the perception of your constituents!
Again, kudos to Councilwoman Hall for attempting to clarify this point.
I'm willing to bet all or most of the officers with the most "complaints" do a lot of drinking in their spare time - that's info. we'll never get.
ReplyDelete8:21 Is absolutely correct. The names and information the folks need to see are photos and locations of the thugs (most of whom have a lengthy rap sheet, yet are loose on the streets and in the community.) who represent a threat to their person.

The KC MO police don't document the calls to the police, let alone the complaints to the police. The fox guarding the hen house. The police don't show up. Rick Smith is a racist.
