KCFD Fire Chief thanks KC voters
The ¼ cent sales tax will provide funding for station improvements, updated medical equipment, and dispatch system upgrades
The Fire Chief thanks KC voters for approval of the ¼ cent sales tax.
“Thank you, Kansas City, for continuing your support of KCFD,” said Fire Chief Donna Maize. “The monies generated annually will help us maintain the professional service that we have provided to KC residents for more than 150 years.”
The number of Emergency Medical Service calls continue to become a larger percentage of KCFD operations. During the last three years, EMS responses have increased by more than 7,000 calls. This funding will help replace ambulances and upgrade medical equipment like EKG monitors.
EMS ambulances respond to all structure fires, HAZ-MAT calls, and numerous traffic accidents. EMS crews are needed at structure fires to provide on-site medical care for residents and KCFD staff when necessary.
Projects also include:
- remodeling and rebuilding of 12 fire stations
- construction of gender-neutral bathrooms
- replacement of radios
- dispatching system improvements

You decide . . .
construction of gender-neutral bathrooms, tax money well spent.

Meanwhile, the Gen Fund dollars are syphoned off for corporate welfare. Well done, City leaders.

ReplyDeletemore king-sized memory-foam beds for Democrat greedy Firefighter Union slobs to sleep on, while scamming taxpayers out of big $$ overtime.
Only about 30% of KCFD funding came from a dedicated source (the 1/4 cent tax). The remainder came from the general fund. The new 1/2 cent tax is not about dramatically increased revenue for KCFD, it's about giving them more dedicated revenue so the council can redirect the general fund to prop up the city's shaky finances... and pay for free buses, and the growing P&L shortfall, and the Lowe's shortfall, and etc.
ReplyDeleteDon't thank me for the tax increase rip-off. I voted against it. Killa City, Misery is so poorly managed, a tax increase one-hundred times greater than 1/4 or 1/2 would not have been enough to shush the constant demands for more tax money to waste.
ReplyDeleteFire Chief Donna Maize can handle my spurting hose anytime.
ReplyDeleteDon't have to thank me, I voted with my feet years ago. Sold my Hyde Park home for way more than it was worth. After a few years that person realized their mistake and moved out too.
ReplyDeleteAnd yet still nobody gives a fuck. Weird.
