KANSAS CITY FIREFIGHTERS STAY WINNING QUESTION 1 SALES TAX INCREASE AMID COVID-19 SICKENING VOTER TURNOUT!!!
Actually, turnout was more than most expected but still not enough to push back this vote that many tax fighters claim was "rigged" for a slam dunk victory . . .
NPR: Kansas City Voters Raise The Sales Tax To Generate $21 Million More A Year For Firefighters
Deets:
"About 55% of Kansas Citians who voted in Jackson, Clay, Platte and Cass counties approved the increase, with 45% voting against it. According to unofficial results, turnout was about 11 percent of registered voters.
"The proposal doubles the existing sales tax for fire services to a half-cent through 2036. It would generate an estimated $21 million more per year, or more than $300 million over the life of the tax."
Developing . . .
there wasn't any campaign against it. what's sad is that this will hurt the poorest people in Kansas City. Everybody else will just continue to shop in Johnson County or online.

Yes, nobody likes a sales tax but this was needed. Now more than ever we need to support fire fighters and make sure that they are properly equipped.
DeleteBullshit
Delete^^^ I think they have enough overtime already.
ReplyDeleteJermaine won, speaking of repulsive.
ReplyDeleteDid he really win though?
DeleteThink about it?
Probably not. Modest Miles probably had a few buddies stuff the ballot box. The question is: how will Jermaine parlay this new gig into Chiefs tickets and free travels and paid bar tabs at The Blue Room, the way he did as a councilman?
DeleteHey man, you said the voter turnout was surprisingly good this morning.
ReplyDeleteI actually went out and voted because of you. I was made because nobody was there. You tricked me into participating into local democracy. SHAME ON YOU!
^^^^ Actually 11% is pretty good considering the circumstances.
DeleteKC isn't interested in voting anymore, we much prefer rioting. Way more effective.
DeleteI blame racist White people for the tax increase.
ReplyDeleteHistoric Landslide Victory. 11 percent of registered voters
ReplyDeleteLMAO
Giant $ucking $ound

ReplyDeleteYAY!! Democrat greedy Firefighter Union slobs to get King-sized memory foam beds to sleep on while scamming taxpayers out of overtime $$$.
Still won't prevent kc bankruptcy.
ReplyDeleteFortunate to live where I buy gas in NKC, food in Gladstone, almost all else on Amazon. Protesters (rioters) can pay for Fire fighter tax.....
ReplyDeleteNext uo...a sales tax increase for the KC Police Dept...bank on it..
ReplyDeleteThe police leadership and police union are so out of touch with the city, they won't get much except a cold cup of coffee from the average person.
DeleteTold you CHUDS it would win easily and it did. You morons on here are the reason why too. Anything you're against, is good for the city! The victory party was fun as hell! You bunch of bitches!
ReplyDeleteDamn this city loves their taxes. Every tax initiative on any ballot is an automatic yes vote. Then people want to bitch about how much money they DON'T have.
ReplyDeleteHere's a hint, if you feel the money crunch stop agreeing to raise your taxes and instead hold these elected officials accountable for how they spend the millions they do get from tax payers. KCMO officials give away tax dollars by the 10s of millions every single year to millionaire and billionaire developers to make things easier for them yet RAISE your taxes every year for basic services making things financially more difficult for you. Funny how that works, isn't it? But, hey, tax payers never seem to be able to say no to these tax hikes so shame on them. Developers and elected officials are going to continue to fuck over the little people because the little people just can't say "no".
So if you voted yes to this thing, you lose your right to bitch about not having money. Just get ready to bend over and take it later in the year when the city comes calling for another tax hike for police, or libraries, or infrastructure or whatever else they can drum up that'll get the masses to the polls to vote "yes".
#KorruptCity
^^I voted yes because I have money. Unlike you. You can always move.
ReplyDelete^^ It's not about money and affordability, per se (although that is a factor to some I'd imagine) it's about principle and government fiscal responsibility. If you re-read that you'd see that's what the poster was saying. Read it again. The money shot is the fact the poster illustrated that corporations get financial breaks whenever they want something while normal folks get the shaft whenever they need something. See the difference?
