Kansas City Faith Blogger Stands Up For LGBT Community During Pride Month

From this town's foremost writer on faith and morals . . . Here's an apropos argument for equality amid this month of scaled back celebration . . .

Fath Matters Blog: A chance for anti-LGBTQ+ Christians to repent

Money line:

"The Bible, as I argue in this essay, should not be used as a weapon against LGBTQ+ people. If you're using the Bible to oppress people, you're getting it all wrong. The Bible, after all, has essentially nothing to say about what today we are beginning to understand about sexual orientation. Well, nothing except for the command to love others, no matter who, where or when.

"But throughout much of its history, the Christian church universal has behaved shamefully in this matter by relying on misinterpretations of scripture to justify bigotry and exclusion. That has to stop. Now."

  2. What about Billy’s Muslim brotherhood? If anti-faggot Christians need to repent, why not Muslims too?

  3. I don't know. It seems like the Bible had something to say.

Romans 1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

That sounds a lot like people today, including this so-called faith blogger.

  4. Don't pay attention to this article listen to what God has to say about the matter. Oh and this so called hate that Christians have against gays is not true however we will talk about what the bible says about gays and then leave it to the individuate to make their own choice. Satanists like the one who wrote this article are Christian bashers and just want to get rid of Christianity.

  5. How dare you mention that Muslimes hate fags, next you will mention MLK did. Which he did.

  8. In Muslim countries they throw Gay men off roof tops. And they rape Gay women until they change. Bill knows this.

  9. Tammeus argues against using the Bible as a weapon, while using the Bible as a weapon.

We should expect nothing less from this sermonizing, left-wing ideologue. At least he's consistent in his hypocrisy.

  10. Keep your comments coming. I know Bill reads these because he has complained about them on his Facebook page. Oh, and Bill, we know what you really believe. You aren't hiding it from us.

    Right, Billy. "Religion of Peace".

  13. Oh, get real. Romans was written by a guy who never knew Christ and was against sex of any kind. Paul's teachings polluted Christ's teachings, which were originally about love and turned them into a means of control.

And some of the letters attributed to Paul were not even written by him.

So if you want to justify your hate, feel free to use your reading of the Bible, but don't expect anyone with a smidgen of common sense to believe you're representing what Christ taught.

  14. Paul met Christ and the road to Emmaus and was confirmed as one of his apostles after persecuting the new Christian sect. He had the authority and we trust the church fathers when it comes to determining what scripture was authentic. We don't trust modern false teachers who attempt to remove the moral core from Christianity.

    Paul lied.

Since Jesus did not rise from the dead, Paul did not meet him.

The Bible is not the Word of God.

Q: Did you hear the one about the homosexual faith writer who suffered from persistent hemorrhoids?

A: He had a "long, long, painful time coming!!!"

"Society's turnaround on this matter from my childhood to now has been been A REMARKABLE THING TO WATCH. In some ways it feels like an overnight success 50-plus years in the making. But, then, BECAUSE I'M NOT GAY, I haven't been among those personally oppressed by society's broadly hateful views about homosexuality -- though frequently when I write in support of equal treatment of LGBTQ+ folks I GET CALLED LOTS OF FILTHY NAMES. So I know that for my LGBTQ+ friends, this latest court ruling was a long, long, painful time coming."

  27. Ever hear the one about the Evangelical Christian who died?
He found himself standing on a gray featureless plain that seemed to stretch on forever, surrounded by a host of other people. Everyone was moving in the same direction, toward two gates in the distance so, having no real other choice, he went along. As he neared the gates he saw two signs over them and, when he got close enough to read them, saw that one of them led to an escalator going up, with a sign overhead that read “Evangelicals This Way”, while the other led to an escalator going down, with a sign reading “All Others”.

Having been a “Good Christian” all his life, he made his way to the “up” escalator, and as he rode upwards, glanced over in pity at those descending away from him. He finally reached the top, only to find that the escalator ended at a smooth narrow passage with high sides. The press of people behind him drove him on willy-nilly, and to his horror he saw that the passage widened and slanted downward, and that people ahead of him were slipping and sliding down it uncontrollably, toward a flaming pit!

As he began to slide down he saw, carved in letters of fire overhead,
JUDGE NOT, LEST YE BE JUDGED - You Were Warned!

You're directing your comment at Tammeus, right?
Because Tammeus is constantly judging Christians for what he perceives as their faults.
He should really stop doing that, or he'll be on that slide into a flaming pit, as opposed to sliding into a flaming rectum.

Easter Bunny or Santa could have done it faster. Or Disney.

I still pray to my 4 billion year old rock, and get the same results as the "sheeple peeple", and I don't have to put anything in the collection plate.
