Kansas City FAILED 18th & Vine Jazz District Demands More Cash Today

Here's the jazz district argument for more money in the midst of a global pandemic economic crisis . . .

"How do we create economic parity in this city how do we drive economic development? 18th and Vine is a mechanism to do that for access to jobs and addressing some of the root causes of issues in our community through economics and this is a place where we can do that. This has historically been disinvested in," Third District Councilwoman Melissa Robinson said.

Sadly, Council Lady Robinson must've overlooked $100-MILLION invested in the district since the 90s.

Check the links as KCMO preps to throw away good money after bad:

KCTV5: Neighbors, business owners call for overdue improvements in the 18th and Vine District

Fox4: Leaders working together in hopes of keeping violence out of 18th and Vine District

Developing . . .

The Jazz District is a shithole. It’s in the shithole ghetto.

Money can’t be the answer, enough been thrown in and wasted for years in everyone of these liberal utopia thought communities and it never seems to be enough to be self sustaining. As one other poster said “subsidies” and the problem is if you’re not self sustaining, tax payers get tired of hearing your complaining. If there’s not enough interest, downsize and cut costs to be able to exist, just like responsible budgeting to run a home! Basic stuff really, you can’t force your desires on others to exist.

And yet it gets the funds easily and there really isn't anything you Boomers can do but come on here and cry. Hell, you do that anyway. Weird.

Has there ever been anyone associated with the Jazz District who wasn’t a total piece of shit moron thief?

Until the parking lots are locked, gated and guarded and the drinks are free the jazz district will continue to fail to attract white people it needs to survive. Ahhh who am I kidding that would even save it.

Putting more money into the shithole ghetto Jazz District is like putting a $2500 set of rims and tires on a $300 car. Makes perfect sense, doesn’t it?

^^Is it the same as doing nothing but watching Matlock all day, and shitting yourself on a blog for dying geriatrics too?

NO is the answer to your question.

Reading a little about new orleans jazz district - as long as people have money in their pocket there will be crime. Doesn't seem to matter if more outdoor lighting or police presence is added - there's still too much crime.

Why would k.c. fair any better.

Ok, only 20 million .. 2 million for the director, 5 million for 10 assistance managers, and 4 million for Escalades. 1 million for essentials. That should help fix it.

"This [area] has historically been disinvested in...." WTF does "disinvested in" mean? She is dumb like a rock.

^^I'm sorry, not sorry you're too stupid to know what that means. You have a dictionary Trumpkin? Of course not. While you're at the library stinking the place out, why don't you haul your smelly ass over to the reference section and look it up? How about that?

@8:17 Don't be jelly of boomers. You know they produced the greatest genre of music since Mozart's classical - rock and roll. You're still stuck with the flushable Kan'te West and hippty-hop as musical non-legacy.

wait till an out of town vacationing family is shot dead for their minivan at 18Th and Vine. Then will we pull all funds and admit its a war zone for criminals? How many have to die? Jazz is already dead, its so unpopular

^^OK Boomer.

No mystery why KCMO is flirting with bankruptcy.
