KANSAS CITY EAST SIDE FIGHT TO FORCE OUT TOP COP FIZZLES FOR NOW!!!

The conversation isn't finished but a few angry letters and statements from local leaders wasn't enough to create a consensus to ask for Chief Smith's dismissal or inspire his resignation . . . Still, it's worth nothing that at any moment a controversial police action could shift the balance of power.

Black leaders discuss need for changes in city leadership

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Black leaders in Kansas City believe change from the top down is crucial right now. "We have to move from talk, because this is the Show-Me state, to action," said Damon Daniel, president of the AdHoc Group Against Crime.

  1. What black leaders want is not changes in the city leadership they want all black leadership. That's so obvious how can anyone not see this?

  2. The very term "black leadership" in KCMO is an oxymoron on steroids.
These self-appointed self-important clowns have taken the east side down down down into the condition it's in today.
Hundreds of millions of dollars have simply disappeared into thin air.
What ever happened to the city-wide sales tax money that can be spent ONLY in the Third District?
Where's all the progress on the Prospect Corridor?
Most of the energy that these folks expend is fighting with each other as to who is going to be the top dog and "run" everything.
You have to feel badly for the regular hard-working folks who live on the east side and want nothing more than safe neighborhoods and a chance to raise their families.
    Sad.

  4. Change in leadership is essential. The Black leaders must step down so others with at least half a brain can replace them.

  6. Instead of telling other people what they have to do, anyone associated with as ineffective and laughable an organization as "the ad Hoc Group Against Crime" should be hiding behind closed doors somewhere.
It's been around since 1977 and since that time, crime, violence, and murders in KCMO have done nothing but risen.
The current homicide count is 90, almost all of which have taken place in the black community.
The real question for ad Hoc is why they still even exist, where their money comes from, and how it's spent.
    What a pitiful joke.

  7. WHO ARE THE BLACK LEADERS? Who the fuck are they? My bet is on fraud. There is no such thing as a Black leader. There are leaders who happen to be Black but NOT the opposite. The term Black leader is in and of itself racist. You don’t describe people by their race. Where are the WHITE LEADERS?

  8. Ad Hoc... Urban League... the very well-funded organizations created to help address the violent crime epidemic on the east side are now complaining about lack of progress on this front. Their comments give us a clue why they have had little success and now have to shift the blame.

  9. There are no "leaders" in Kansas City. The city government is strong city manager and KCMO has no city manager. The police department is managed by the state. And it goes down hill from there. The black community has no leaders.

  10. I find it amazing that these idiots and mayor mckneely can diss the good police chief all they want and yet he can’t say one word to defend himself. The boy blunder and his idiot cronies are just trying to stir the pot to get another kolored in the charge at kcpd.

What It really all boils down to is they need a puppet that will allow the city to take their money from kcpd’s budget.

  11. With the exception of the Mayor, the Commissioners of the KCMO Board of Police Commissioners are all appointed by the Governor. That legal structure was imposed by the State, along with a mandatory funding formula for the Police Department, decades ago after the Pendergast crime family took over the entire city government, including the Police Department. The current efforts to get rid of Chief Smith demonstrate the wisdom of that decision.
