Plaza to remain closed again after fourth night of protests

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The cleanup process began yet again after a fourth night of protests over the death of George Floyd gripped Kansas City, Missouri. Protesters gathered near the Country Club Plaza again on Monday afternoon for peaceful demonstration. The group lasted into the night, with some scuffles between police and those present being reported again.

They should have left the queers alone who cruised up and down all night looking for cock. They didn't cause any riots.

Bannister Mall, Oak Park Mall and now the Plaza. Why would Nordstroms or anyone open a store or restaurant in the Plaza? It will just get ruined.

Mayor Lucas back-stabbed law enforcement and law abiding citizens by supporting the radicalized looters. Why would anyone want to invest or shop in Kansas City after what we have witnessed this past week.

KC will probably go bankrupt under Lucas as the sales tax revenue stream will dry up to zero. It's a shame as KC was making a comeback but is now another Detroit.

Let's hope that the restaurants and shops of the Plaza can weather this storm. This has been a gem for Kansas City for nearly a century. The recent troubles have been more self inflicted than anything. It's no longer the draw it used to be. Instead of the unique KC stores and restaurants it's been known for, it's become street-after-street of cookie cutter businesses you can find in any other city across the country.

The Plaza was progressive when it was built and it needs to continue to evolve and become a city-wide destination. If it's known for protests and crime, it will quickly go the way of Bannister.

First, the Plaza is no way dead.

Not remotely.

Second, it will be back open as soon as the protests end.

Put a fork in the Plaza; it will be like Linwood Blvd strip mall...........maybe a Sunfresh grocery store, pawn shop, Dollar Tree Store, etc. No one from the burb's are going to visit the Plaza in the future. It's been downhill the last 20 years.

and the Plaza will be fine & here for generations.. You geezers...not so much. Weird.

I am glad to see the plaza closed, since they too have practiced racism in the past. They closed all the movie theaters down on the plaza in order to keep black people from coming to the plaza. I am also glad that white amerikkka is losing trillions of dollars during the COVID 19. That what their racist asses deserve. Also for electing that devil trump for president.

Announcement coming before June 15:
Nordstrom's is pulling out of the Plaza project.
They are in business to make money. Not spend their money on boarding up their windows.
Restaurants who have been butchered by Corona will really have no customers now.
The Plaza is effectively dead.

"Put a fork In it... Plaza's done..."

I've read that on TKC comments for 10 years.

And I don't know anyone under the age of 80 using the expression "put a fork in it"

The Plaza is a dead man walking. Store owners will take notice the Mayor will not defend the property. It will take time but in time the Plaza will fade away and Town Center Plaza will continue to be the magnet for upscale shoppers. People forget that there are thousands in the outlying area that absolutely will not come downtown. Riots at the Plaza will reinforce that perception that its not safe. Three black Mayors and it's come to this. The Chickens are coming home to roost for a City filled with naive voters living in Strawberry Shortcake land.

^^^OK Boomer. The Plaza will be here long after your old ass steps into the light, which come to think of..isn’t very long at all!! Tick tock. Bye bye Boomer.

Retail is a tricky game. The plaza is well positioned in every way but location. Too bad, it can be one of KC's best spots.

400 years of hate, violence and systemic/institutional racism is the cause. Solve that, no demonstrations, fires, looting.

When The Plaza started renting space to loser chains like Abercrombie and Fitch I knew it was a matter of time before it became a soulless pit of cookie cutter crap. Maximized near term rents and cut the legs from under the uniqueness that had kept the Country Club Plaza a destination.
