Anti-War Veteran Shares Wonderfully Jaded View Of Kansas City 'Insurrection' Riot

Read betwixt the lines here and notice that this solider doesn't really believe in much of anything and that's why his words ring true. Here's the most remarkable alternative perspective we've read on recent Kansas City civil unrest that doesn't seem to be fallowing partisan political talking points.

Dispatches From Kansas City: The 'Insurrection' That Wasn't (May 30-31, 2020) - Antiwar.com Original

"Crossing State lines to incite violence is a FEDERAL CRIME! Liberal Governors and Mayors must get MUCH tougher or the Federal Government will step in and do what has to be done, and that includes using the unlimited power of our Military and many arrests. Thank you!"

  1. Political stunts of trump or anyone else exploiting the current climate during an very contentious election year aside, you went from the army and turned into an author. Huff post, good for you. I couldn't read your whole article, seemed long and all over the place. Some ex-military go into the police force and now get urine soaked rags thrown at them. Did you or is this close enough? So they should just stand there stoically like a good soldiers while their 'superiors' yell that they are cowards while they are required to protect private property or required to be props in a show? Vets returning from vietnam got spit on, because the war was their fault? Can you rewrite your article and be more pithy?

    2. No, the police should not just stand there absorbing the rage of the people. What a stupid thing to suggest.

The police should not be doing anything at all to protect bigoted murdererous police officers from The rage of the people.

You want the people to have sympathy for the abused tools of the Empire but you have no sympathy for any other abused victims of the violent rapacious worldwide military empire. ITS A MILITARY EMPIRE you tool, no better than all the other military empires that have risen and burned down.

    3. Is it true that in Flint the Cops joined the BLM protest? If our KC cops had done that instead of violently confronting and escelating there would have been less anger and very little chaotic cover for the looting.

  2. the last 3 days was not a peaceful protest, wasn't even a protest with a holistic agenda accounting for all factors that lead to civil unrest in a political/economic/racially stressed/covid-19 crisis. Folks not wearing masks while they get in cops face spitting and screaming urgent emotions or points they insist to be acknowledged. SAY THEIR NAMES! It was a riot/protest and everything in between. Are people in armchairs watching clips/protestors/rioters/everything in between privy to or making a concerted effort or exercising their intuitive skills to distinguish good cops from bad cops dealing and expected to deal with the situation?

  3. Invading Iraq for Oil and Empire solved his "misguided ethical-intellectual apathy"
But Kansas City's chuds are running away from learning anything even after great leader Donald JimJones Trump told them Iraq was a mistake.

  4. Why are the Mayor, police chief and other city leaders not wearing masks when people are very close to them in many situations? There are photos of this everywhere. This makes no sense at all. I guess it's a case of "do what I say, not what I do." Are they trying to do their part to continue to keep the city shut down to everyone but protesters?

  5. Thanks for helping to spread COVID-19, Mayor Q.

  6. Just heard the mayor on the radio. His voice is raspy and sounds like he might have COVID-19 now. Wear a mask, mayor. Follow your own guidelines.

  7. Who EXACTLY wants the people to have sympathy for the abused tools of the Empire but has no sympathy for any other abused victims of the violent rapacious worldwide military empire?

    1. Probably the obtuse first commenter who whines about police as victims of the people, while they protect their killer cop comrades, but says nothing about the victims of killer cops nor about civilian victims of imperial wars.

  15. 6:13: Maybe some police got urine soaked rags thrown at them, but some protesters were also roughed up unnecessarily by police--including one on TKC who was sprayed in the face with mace by a cop who objected to the protester's using his freedom of speech.

There are abuses and abusers on both sides. And the extreme right has been documented at least once posing as antifa on an antifa website to incite violence.

BTW, there may have been some Vietnam era vets spat on, but they were few and far between. Soldiers were flown from 'Nam to military bases first, and when they traveled home from there, they usually wore their civvies on commercial flights. I was around at the time and opposed to the war. We respected soldiers and realized they were drafted and had no say in fighting for a lost cause.

  19. and 8:39 i was the little seed my father left before he went to vietnam. I got to vist him in singapore in utero.
I am very familiar with abuses and abusers on both sides. Condescending fuck, my freedom of speech has been getting me in trouble with 'authorities' for long time. STFU.

    ReplyDelete
  20. 8:39 At some point you need to BE the change you DEMAND. Police officers' respect comes from being respected. Sympathy and understanding comes from showing sympathy and understanding for the jobs police do. They are at your protest because there are CRIMES being committed. Blocking streets, defacing property, fights between protesters, drinking and using drugs in public parks. Are they arresting every single person who engages in that activity? NO - they are using restraint and discretion to try and avoid a larger problem. You know, the problems that the speakers are drumming up, fabricating, and exaggerating to bring a low grade fever to full blown COVID-19 organ failure.

Screaming at officers, making inflammatory statements, generalizing, and ignoring the challenges of being an officer are not going to make a difference. BE the change you DEMAND. If you stood any place close to the JC Nichols fountain over the past several days you can see what's happening. Every cell phone video is out, every TV station is there, every newspaper reporter is watching looking for the slightest hint of police abuse that can be sensationalized. Why?

If there is inherent racism in our police departments - they are hiring. This isn't an exclusive club. The barriers to entry are not high. These protesters can pick up an application, join the police academy and BE the change they DEMAND.

  28. 10:44. This will come out probably at the Federal level. But remember you didn't believe the outcome of the Obama administrations investigation into Fergusons Michael Brown.. Stupid protesters still chant the false "hands up don't shoot".

The truth has nothing to do with these emotion and political driven protest, not to mention the criminal element mixed in with the mob. Mob mentality which always decays into total chaos must be met with appropriate force to neutralize for the protection of life and property.

  31. Well, I was one of them three times returning. No, I was never spat on. I always wore a uniform (I didn't HAVE civilian clothes) and I was an enlistee, not a draftee. The last sentence below is just self serving tripe.

BTW, there may have been some Vietnam era vets spat on, but they were few and far between.
