TKC MUST SEE!!! KANSAS CITY MAYOR QUINTON LUCAS SPARKS DEBATE OVER 'NEED' TO WEAR MASKS AMID RISING CORONAVIRUS REOPEN CONFUSION!!!

A late evening social media message from Mayor Lucas sparked surprising push back from fans and followers.

Here's the local connection to a cultural war over coronavirus masks and what's probably a not so subtle rebuke of the President's refusal to wear a face covering for news cameras.

Mayor Quinton Lucas tweeted: "Politicians need to wear masks too! Proud of the recent work @kcmohealthdept has been doing to support pop-up testing throughout our community. Thank you!"

To be fair, the Mayor earned plenty of support but right now these comments stand out more than most . . .

Opt-in reaction . . .

*Choice* we do not need to. Those masks do absolutely nothing.

Efficacy argument . . .

"Again, the virtue signaling regarding the usage of a mask has grown to a fever a pitch the last several days. However, please be aware of CDC guidelines concerning mask usage. Surgical masks and homemade masks do not offer adequate protection."

Accolades for leadership by example . . .

"Thank you Mayor for being a leader during this crisis. Apparently not all elected officials are up to the task."

Watchful local contradiction . . .

You forgot to wear one during your press conference ...#JustSayin

More importantly and still causing debate and contradictory mandates . . .

Without Consistent Official Guidelines, Kansas Citians Make Their Own Rules For Returning To Restaurants, Gyms And Salons

A growing number of states are starting to reopen, including Kansas and Missouri. According to a recent Washington Post-University of Maryland poll, a majority of Americans are comfortable going to a grocery store. But most say they don't support reopening retail shops, hair salons, restaurants, or other businesses - at least, not yet.

KC considers dropping 10% occupancy limit for restaurants

Kansas City is considering dropping its 10% occupancy limit for restaurants. Instead restaurants would keep tables six feet apart. At Pizza 51, they were actually measuring the distances between their patio tables.Table separation, not an occupancy restriction, has been their preference."We have the opportunity to properly distance folks in that sense versus a percentage," said Jason Pryor, owner of Pizza 51."In a minute, I'll take that.

Westport Demands Workaround

Westport businesses could expand to sidewalks, streets with city approval

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Westport Regional Business League is hoping to help its area small businesses. The COVID-19 pandemic shut down many Westport businesses, and several business owners told 41 Action News that Kansas City's 10/10/10 rule will prevent them from making any money.

But this coronavirus just took away his rallies, his presidency is toast.

  4. Please Mary Lucas, please stop speaking to us like we are a bunch of college kids in your classroom. Once again a lot of us are much older than you, have seen much more than you, have experienced more than you and therefore know more than you. Just because you've got a sheepskin diploma does it mean it gives you the right to dictate to other people your beliefs. You are a weak-mayor meaning you're not in charge. Please stop and try to lead! Without the use of fear and bullying tactics.

  5. This is the first time I've seen the mayor with a mask. I don't think he was making it much of a habit until Pence got scolded for not wearing one, then the mayor decided he better up his game.

  6. Uncle Joe has let the virus knock the shit out of his presidential run.
Very few are paying any attention to what he is saying.
    He will try something dramatic.
His handlers will make him pick Hillary as his running mate.
That will get him plenty of attention, but not the kind that he needs.

  7. Seems like Trump is more concerned about the stock market. I'm glad that Mayor Lucas cares more about residents of KC.

    1. Lucas cares about Lucas. You're fooling yourself. He granted himself power and abuses that power. He thinks extreme edicts are leading and his arrogance is second only to Rex Archer, but it's a close call. He calls himself pro-choice but won't give US a choice about our own safety. Apparently he's only pro-choice about killing babies. He criticizes Parson for not wearing a mask, but never wears one himself. You've got a pretty dim view of leadership.

Just let Trump keep talking, the attention is.....not good.

  9. 8:08 If trump was more concerned about the stock market then why did he enact the defense act to get the auto industry to make ventilators, masks and other protective gear? How about the pharma industry to get more tests and medicine out to the hospitals and the public?

  15. Let's Review:

    March 13: National emergency declared

Trump, Pence, Fauci & Birx (Infectious Disease doctors), Coronavirus task force, Surgeon General, Sec. State, Sec. Treasury, Speaker Pelosi, Schumer, McConnell, Biden, Sanders, White House media correspondents, KS Gov. Kelly, MO Gov. Parson, KC Mayor Lucas....all chose NOT to wear masks.

Federal/state governments did NOT distribute masks to all Americans.

The coronavirus has been circulating across the country since probably late Fall of 2019. Most Americans have already been exposed to it.

The 1st time I saw any of the above named individuals wear a mask was only in the last 10 days (Speaker Pelosi began wearing one for photo-ops). None of the other D.C. people have appeared with a mask to my knowledge. This is the first photo of Lucas wearing one that I've seen.

At this point, unless you're elderly, immuno-compromised, already ill, etc., there is little point to wearing a mask other than demonstrating your lack of intelligence and willingness to submit to peer pressure.

Only a stupid politician waits nearly 2 months after the declared national emergency to begin following a protocol that could have made a real difference had it been widely implemented at the onset.

    ReplyDelete
  16. A mask offers some small to moderate level of protection from suspended droplets for both the wearer and others nearby.

So why wouldn't a person wear one if if offers even some small help in preventing viral transmission?

Because we're largely a nation of willfully uneducated, fat-as-fuck, selfish, skidmarked, jersey-wearing chuds who consider a restaurant with a chocolate fountain to be fine dining.

    It's really that simple.

    ReplyDelete
  17. The Mayor and council offer NO leadership. They are operating business as usual while telling everyone else to close and stay at home. Did they miss a paycheck?

  19. FAILURE of Democrat Party policies and ideology:

State of New York has been controlled by the Democrat Party for 100+ years.

State of New York has 1,344 corona virus deaths per one million citizens which is 20 times the rate of any "Red" state.

Governor Coumo and Mayor DeBlasio were disasters in preparing New York for Corona Virus.

They did not think to send state health inspectors to New York's nursing homes and VA homes where thousands of elderly died in squalor.

The rest of the country is shut down due to the left wimg medias hysteria regarding New Yorks disaster.

Meanwhile Joe Biden hides in his basement shitting his Depends with sister-wife.

  23. Mary Lucas is "doing his part", but a command to "wear a mask" does not define what kind of mask to wear, so it is intended as a very imperfect solution.

It might be better for people to just cover their mouths when they sneeze.

But he made the defense department take over r95 mask protection as his top priority I think he lied to me. Those r95's have been around since the 1970's, people knew they could prevent illness. He lied!
