TKC MUST READ!!! KANSAS CITY 'SAFE RETURN' GUIDE OFFERS RULES ALREADY WIDELY IGNORED BY MOST RESIDENTS!!!

Here's the premise of a e-booklet from The Chamber and the best intentions of cowtown biz people . . .

"As the Greater Kansas City business community adjusts day-to-day operations in response to COVID-19, we must balance the need to maintain our region’s economy with the protection of our community’s health. The Safe Return KC Guide provides a roadmap for organizations of all types across the region to use as we re-open our workplaces, while considering the public health needs of our workforce, stakeholders, customers and community."

Reality check . . .

- Over the weekend masks among the KC Metro populace are about 50/50 at best with more compliance in the urban core vs. the suburbs.

- Crowds at many local places are getting too big to enforce any kind of social distancing.

- There's not enough infrastructure to enforce penalties to biz. Police are directing complaints to 311 and the backlog of compliance citations is already apparent before the lockdown has completely concluded.

Most importantly . . .

Even objective observers admit Kansas City hasn't been "consistent" with guidelines and the confusion has created down and inspired more criticism from skeptics who oppose any local government limitations on movement despite health concerns.

And all of this precedes an upcoming press conference today from Mayor Lucas hoping to offer more clarity.

Developing . . .

  1. The guide seems like more of a protection against liability or maybe something that aspirational. Maybe there is a new normal but it looks like it's going to be hard trying to convince people not to fall back into their old habits.

    1. It's not over, both the media and the political leadership have failed to get that message out to people.

    2. ^^^ Good call.

You have to protect yourself and don't count on anybody else to do it. That has always been true and remains the safest strategy now.

Der Fuhrer sent out over 100 tweets Sunday. None of them had anything to do with reality. Most were on a new conspiracy theory that he just made up whole cloth.

    Can we survive until November?

Can we survive the period from November to January?

There are denizens on here everyday advocating extra-judicial executions of Democrats.

  3. Oh bLIEron, you’re such an old fool. Obamagate happened, you need to accept it, “scandal free Obama” nevar existed. I feel bad for you that all your dreamy eyed visions of him are coming unraveled but with free government supplied therapy and drugs you receive through welfare even you can make it through this horrendous and difficult time with proper reflection and understanding that your poor choices in life led you to this terrible place you’ve created for yourself. #dontbekarenanymore

  4. If Lucas is going to be remotely truthful today he would release the numbers for those who have recovered from the Chinese virus.

Let’s see if he’s going to be a man or keep the fear mongering doom and gloom going strong.

  5. Byron seems really really obsessed with trump, he’s counting his tweets now, does he want to suck him off or something? Seems like he’s a very sick person to me.

  6. Oh please, not another Mayor Selfie press conference. He does more harm than good. The message might be a bit clearer if he included the City Council and the city employees in the message prior to the message. Sad state of affairs when the employees tasked with enforcing the "policies" have no knowledge of the policies prior to the press conference.

  7. Since the failed 10 minute leave your name crashed so poorly. Rumor is KC will have restaurant tables 10 feet apart. Nothing like replacing your failed marketing plan with another failed marketing plan.

This keeps most restaurant capacity around 15% or below. Never mind that it is far more restrictive than any other area in town, it is one of the most restrictive in the nation. Might as well tell all KC restaurants to just close permanently.

But of course it is pure scientific analysis by our health department that guides them. Three deaths in 3 weeks in KC. /s

  8. Wave 2 is about to wash over the US as once again if you get casual it burns you. Opening without supportive testing and environmental improvements (like reducing corona in airflows) is a form of Russian roullette.

Good thing we have bar owners dictating health policy. South Korea and Singapore thought they had it handled and it came back and is biting them hard. People will be angry and demoralized. The option of opening with very strong precautions seems to be the neglected choice.

    Going to be a mess.

  9. ^^ I think Russian roulette has a higher death rate (20%) than Covid.

  10. 10:26 can you explain why every single grocery store, hardware store, convience store is not already shut down due to community spread? There have been exactly 3 deaths in the last 18 days in KCMO, and if you have been paying attention people are already o/it everywhere.

Restaurants already fall under FDA, CDC and multiple health departments. They have been dealing with bacterial, viral, food safety issues for years and years. The hardware stores don’t have a clue about sanitation, and yet they are having Black Friday every day.

Perhaps we could allow citizens to exercise FREE CHOICE and protect themselves instead of some politician sitting in an office crafting a sentence that somehow applies to every person and situation there is.

If you are at risk then by all means stay home, wear a mask and don’t touch your face.....

  11. I'm a grown man. I'm allowed to DECIDE if I want to jump out of an airplane, with or without a chute; if I want to dive off a cliff into a few feet of water; if I want to free climb El Capitan. BUT, I need some kid to tell me when it's safe to go out to eat? Nope. Not gonna happen.
