Right now the BACKGROUND CHATTER among first responders and all of the civic set is rampant and the story is being cleansed or possibly ignored by the media.
First and foremost, TKC wants to extend sympathy to friends and family of the firefighter. No matter the circumstances, he obviously had many people who cared about him and we certainly RESPECT them and their feelings.
Now, while acknowledging there is rampant speculation about this suicide and there is no "official" story and likely never will be . . . What we know for sure is this:
THE KCFD SUICIDE IS BEING DOWNPLAYED & SO FAR THERE IS NO MENTION OF NASTY SITUATION THAT MANY SAY CONTRIBUTED TO THE TRAGEDY!!!
Yet, every allegation is just that and since the poor guy is dead, there is no way for him to defend himself.
Even as coronavirus dominates the headlines and this story occurs in that context, the comprehensive deets will never be completely answered now that the guy is dead.
We only offer this blog post to REPORT THE KANSAS CITY DISCOURSE THAT CONTINUES BEHIND THE SCENES.
Moreover, we realize that there's a debate about this story developing right now in newsrooms across the metro and our readers deserve to, at least, know about the conversation and realize how official statements are cleaned up before the public reads them as "news" after the fact.
Still, we are cutting comments from this post in order to avoid rampant speculation and nasty chatter given the sensitivity of the situation.
